Deliberate mistake: Right at the end of the film, the two Norwegians (Lars and Matias) are seen chasing after Lars' dog in a helicopter. Notice how their clothing and the interior of the helicopter are not the same as they looked in the original 1982 film by John Carpenter. It's supposed to be the same event.

The Thing (2011)
1 deliberate mistake
Directed by: Matthijs van Heijningen Jr.
Starring: Joel Edgerton, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Eric Christian Olsen, Ulrich Thomsen
Factual error: Winter in Antarctica would not have a night and day as portrayed, with the amount of light changing so much during the course of 24 hours.
Adam Finch: You know, I never believed in this shit.
Jonas: I always did.
Trivia: Much of the ending was reshot, including a scene where the alien pilots within the spaceship were witnessed by Kate Lloyd dangling from some sort of tubes; the body of one was replaced post-production by an odd Tetris-like display.
Question: They find the thing trying to escape the initial crash but it froze. In the 1982 version, they find another thing in a similar manner. Does this mean Kate was infected but didn't know it but turned as she walked off into the night?

Answer: In the 1982 version they never find another thing in a similar manner. It's just the one creature. Whether Kate was or was not infected is irrelevant, she was not found in the 1982 plot.
