Continuity mistake: At the end of the movie a big man is placing flowers at Rocky's grave. From the back of the tombstone he is laying the flowers on their sides. In the next shot, from the front of the stone, they are standing up, leaning against the stone.

Directed by: Peter Bogdanovich
Starring: Laura Dern, Sam Elliott, Eric Stoltz, Cher, Estelle Getty
One morning Rocky's mom goes into Rocky's bedroom to find that he has died in his sleep due to the facial disfiguring disease that he has.
Rusty Dennis: First you told me he was gonna be retarded, then you told me he was gonna be blind and deaf. If I'd dug his grave every time one of you geniuses told me he was gonna die, I'd be eating fuckin' chop suey in China by now.
Trivia: Director Peter Bogdanovich's first choice for the part of Rocky Dennis was Anthony Michael Hall. Hall turned down the part because he didn't like the idea of hiding his face during the whole film with make-up. Eric Stoltz was then cast instead.
Suggested correction: I don't know if you are right or wrong, but I thought Eric was given the role because he sang "Rock-y" during his audition. [I'm not really asserting that you are wrong; I had to pick that option in order to be able to reply here.].
Question: I don't know if this is a urban myth or what, but didn't the real Rocky Dennis like Bruce Springsteen, but "The Boss" or his manager/lawyer, etc refused to allow the music to be used in the movie and that is why Bob Seger's tunes were used instead?
Answer: According to the IMDb, so take with a degree of scepticism, Rocky's favourite music was indeed Springsteen and the Boss himself was happy for it to be used, but, at the time of the original release, an agreement regarding royalty rates could not be reached with the rights owner. A director's cut was released a while later with seven minute of additional footage and the Springsteen songs used instead, after Springsteen pushed for an agreement to be made.
