Continuity mistake: During the scenes at her Mother's house, Kate's hair goes from blonde to REALLY blonde.
Factual error: Breast pumps need a tight seal in order to work and would NOT stick to Kate's sweater as seen.
Continuity mistake: At her mother's house, when Kate finishes with the pregnancy test, its position moves on the counter beside her.
Factual error: When Brad and Kate are in the taxi on the way to the airport, they are shown crossing the Golden Gate Bridge. They supposedly live in the city of San Francisco itself, and therefore should be heading south to the airport. The Golden Gate Bridge is to the north, and is completely in the opposite direction, by about 18 miles.
Factual error: At the end of the movie, the news reporter should not have been able to go into Kate and Brad's hospital room to surprise them, without any kind of consent from the couple beforehand.
Continuity mistake: When Kate enters the room with the cot at Brad's father's house, she unbuttons all three buttons and begins to open her coat. The shot then changes to Brad's face for some time. On the return shot of Kate, she's beginning to unbutton the coat all over again, starting with the first button. (00:18:25)
Continuity mistake: At Brad's mom's house, after Brad and Kate are finished with their frustrating turn at the board game and Brad shuts down, saying our time is up, the hour glass is fully turned upright with all the sand in the top section. In fact, the sand doesn't even seem to be dripping into the bottom section.
Continuity mistake: At Pastor Phil's church, when Kate and Brad are preparing for the play and the baby is handed to Kate, the pamphlet jumps in and out of the baby 's grasp between shots - when his hand is not at his mouth.
Continuity mistake: In the sex scene in the bathroom, Kate rips Brad's shirt off and buttons go flying. When he comes out of the bathroom afterwards, he's buttoning his shirt back up.
Character mistake: During the Nativity play, Pastor Phil says, "Are we ready to see the result of the Immaculate Conception?" The term 'Immaculate Conception' refers to the conception of the Virgin Mary (conceived without Original Sin), not to the conception of Jesus. Furthermore, the Immaculate Conception is a dogma of the Catholic Church, and not something which a Protestant pastor like Phil would believe in.
Suggested correction: The immaculate conception refers to Mary conceiving Jesus. It was Immaculate because she was a virgin carrying God's child. The Virgin birth (Jesus birth) is in the New Testament and every Christian (Protestant and Catholic) believe the story of the Virgin Mary and birth of Jesus.
The Immaculate Conception is indeed the belief that Mary was born without Original Sin (and thus was immaculate, meaning spotless or clean), although some religions teach Mary was born in sin and made immaculate through the Holy Spirit. The birth of Jesus is known as the Virgin Birth (one could even use the phrase "virgin conception.") Immaculate Conception has nothing to do with being born of a virgin.
Continuity mistake: After Kate is thrown from the jump jump, we see alternate facial shots of Reese and her stunt double before she climbs back in.
Continuity mistake: At Paula's house, during the game, when Denver eats the chicken wings they change between shots.
Continuity mistake: When Brad and Kate are arguing in the SUV, the headrest material changes between shots.
Character mistake: They are hooking up Brad's father's satellite dish and he falls pulling the TV up to the roof. The cable is connected to the TV. The problem is all dish systems have a box that goes with them. The cable goes from the satellite to the box, then to the TV - not directly to the TV set.
Continuity mistake: At her mother's house, when Kate is in the bathroom after she changes her clothes, the items in Courtney's baby bag disappear, reappear or change position.
Continuity mistake: When Brad and Kate are at the airport all the flights are cancelled because of the fog. Outside you can see its a cloudy/foggy day, but when they are going to Brad's father's house it's perfectly sunny.
Suggested correction: The micro climate weather in SF could easily create fog by the airport and no fog in another part of the city or the Bay Area.
