The Monster Squad

Question: At the beginning of the movie, it was stated that Van Helsing planned to use the amulet to send every monster to limbo but that him and his team blew it. How exactly did they blow it?

Answer: It is shown that Dracula's servants were successful in protecting their master. Dracula escapes while Van Helsing himself is sucked into limbo.

Answer: It's unknown how the dog got into the treehouse. After the boys put their hands on top of each others, the dog puts his paw on and Rudy questions how the dog got in with none of the boys being able to give an answer.

Chosen answer: Obviously it is carried up there by one of the kids.

Question: What was the point of Dracula blowing up the clubhouse? He obviously knew the kids weren't there because he tells the father that he is going for his son.

Answer: He's pissed off at the kids.

Answer: It was in retaliation for them stealing the amulet from him. You can actually consider it the first shot of the impending battle between the monsters and the Squad.

Question: When the dad and his cop friend are heading to 666 Shadowbrook Road, they drive through Dracula's hearse, but in the next scene Dracula gets out of the hearse. So when did Dracula turn into a ghost?

Answer: Being able to turn into mist or dust is a an ability often attributed to vampires in fiction.

Question: What was Sean's mother reacting to? She turned with a puzzled look before Dracula's car ever came near the house.

Answer: She heard the tires squealing and just had a reaction to that like anybody else would.

SAZOO1975

Answer: If you remember, the mother lit a candle and told Phoebe it would keep the house safe from monsters and lightning. The sound she reacted to was the candle blowing out, indicating the house was no longer protected.

She turned around in reaction at the same time the tires squealed.

lartaker1975

No, she is NOT reacting to the tires. When the scene begins, the candle is in the lower right corner of the screen. It blows out and she reacts to the sound. I've been having this debate since 1989.

Question: Is it ever explained where to or even why the monsters are being moved?

Answer: This is never explained.

SAZOO1975

Answer: Dracula's a crafty and resourceful guy. While we're not privy to the details, he surely made the arrangements and concocted a cover story so that he and his team of monsters could get shipped close by the amulet's location.

TonyPH

Question: How exactly were Dracula's servants successful in stopping Van Helsing in 1897? What did the monster hunters do wrong?

Answer: The girl finished the incantation and opened Limbo but it only took some of the hunters, the girl and Van Helsing; it didn't take Dracula so it was a failure of a mission.

Answer: They caused enough chaos and terror in the hunters that the girl couldn't focus on reading the incantation. Van Helsing was desperately trying to get her to hurry up and finish but she just couldn't get it done in time with everything going on around her. Apparently Van Helsing's group was not prepared for the undead bursting from the ground and frightening everyone.

Answer: Dracula had already vacated the premises by the time they got the vortex open.

TonyPH

Deliberate mistake: When the vortex is summoned to get rid of the monsters, other things get sucked into it. Cars, trees, light poles, other police officers. However other things or people who are more accessible do not get sucked in. For example, Phoebe hiding behind a bench, the bench itself, Phoebe's mother and a few cops hiding behind a cop car, etc.

Trivia: When Dracula grabs Phoebe and she screams, that was a real reaction from her because she was afraid of him when he was in full make-up.
