Fans of Gerry Anderson or of vintage sci-fi should definitely check this out. On thr coat-tails of 2001: A Space Odyssey, Anderson leaves the puppets and goes with live actors (and the overall vibe is indeed somewhere between Thunderbirds and UFO) with another tale of humanity poking around the solar system and making a bizarre discovery that fundamentally changes how we see ourselves. The visual effects are pretty compelling, in a Gerry Anderson sort of way. The characters not so much. There are some obvious plot holes. There are two possible interpretations of the ending, and both are pretty grim, but then lots of episodes of UFO and Space: 1999 also had grim endings. It seems Anderson was into that. For parents: A lot of people get killed - one shot to death in our full view - and you've also got to be ready to answer or to deflect some questions about contraception and divorce.
