Revealing mistake: When the cops watch the guy in the Santa costume being attacked their brakes are cut under the car but a few moments later when they drive off down the street they do apply the brakes to stop from the lights exploding above and the brakes do work.
Suggested correction:A cut brake line would not stop the brakes from working instantly. It would take a few pumps of the brakes for fluid to expel. So the brakes would work for a little while.
Revealing mistake: When the professor is trying to find the gremlin, he is in the room with the movie playing. The projector that is playing the movie is actually moving backwards.(00:44:35 - 00:47:35)
Kate Beringer: The worst thing that ever happened to me was on Christmas. God, it was so horrible! It was Christmas Eve. I was nine years old. Me and Mom were decorating the tree, waiting for Dad to come home from work. A couple hours went by, Dad wasn't home. Mom called the office, no-one answered. Christmas Day came and went, and still nothing. The police began to search. Four or five days went by, neither one of us could eat or sleep. Everything was falling apart. It was snowing outside. The house was freezing, so I went to try to light up the fire, and that's when I noticed a smell. The firemen came and broke through the chimney top and me and Mom were expecting them to pull out a dead cat or a bird, and instead they pulled out my father. He was dressed in a Santa Claus suit. He'd been climbing down the chimney on Christmas Eve, his arms loaded with presents. He was going to surprise us. He slipped and broke his neck, died instantly.
Trivia: When Billy's mom takes the picture of Gizmo at the beginning, Gizmo becomes frightened and runs over to Mr. Peltzer. When the scene is slowed, you can see the puppeteer's hand underneath while operating the Gizmo doll. Not a mistake as needs slo-mo, but worth a look.(00:19:10)
Question: I have the original VHS version and I've noticed that some cuss words have dubbed over on the DVD. Yet The original VHS is still rated PG any reason why, other than the fact to make it more of a family film.
Answer:The original film was released before the PG-13 rating existed (it was one of the films responsible for its creation). Producers decided to remove some of the language and violence for the DVD release to avoid complaints about the PG rating.
