Visible crew/equipment: In the scene where the cop car flips over, if you pay attention, you can see the metal plate that's welded under the car that helps it flip over. (01:08:25)

8.7/10. A creative horror movie of the 80's that mustn't be overlooked. I enjoyed its premise as these little scary creatures, the Gremlins, wreaked havoc on this small town which looked like a blend of Mayberry and Bedford Falls. If anything, I found it the kind of horror movie that could do humor while not getting too over the top. Its sequel, Gremlins 2:The New Batch, went slightly the opposite way, nothing wrong with that, because it worked. Here though, the small town isolation with being invaded by these little monsters does well and plays with the audience's minds superbly.

Kate Beringer: The worst thing that ever happened to me was on Christmas. God, it was so horrible! It was Christmas Eve. I was nine years old. Me and Mom were decorating the tree, waiting for Dad to come home from work. A couple hours went by, Dad wasn't home. Mom called the office, no-one answered. Christmas Day came and went, and still nothing. The police began to search. Four or five days went by, neither one of us could eat or sleep. Everything was falling apart. It was snowing outside. The house was freezing, so I went to try to light up the fire, and that's when I noticed a smell. The firemen came and broke through the chimney top and me and Mom were expecting them to pull out a dead cat or a bird, and instead they pulled out my father. He was dressed in a Santa Claus suit. He'd been climbing down the chimney on Christmas Eve, his arms loaded with presents. He was going to surprise us. He slipped and broke his neck, died instantly.
Trivia: At the beginning of the film, when Billy is late for work, you see two films playing at the movie theater: "A Boy's Life" and "Watch the Skies." The former was the original title for "E.T." and the latter was the original title for a proposed sequel to "Close Encounters of the Third Kind." Two films directed by executive producer Steven Spielberg. (00:08:30)
Question: I have the original VHS version and I've noticed that some cuss words have dubbed over on the DVD. Yet The original VHS is still rated PG any reason why, other than the fact to make it more of a family film.

Answer: The original film was released before the PG-13 rating existed (it was one of the films responsible for its creation). Producers decided to remove some of the language and violence for the DVD release to avoid complaints about the PG rating.
