Deliberate mistake: When Buttermaker goes to the trunk of his car to get the new team jerseys, he opens a box sitting on top of a pile of stuff. There is no way that this box would have fit in the trunk with all of this stuff and closed properly. The front of the car was loaded with Buttermaker and some of his team, so it couldn't have fit on the seats, either.
Morris Buttermaker: Baseball's hard, guys. I mean, it really is. You can love it but, believe me, it don't always love you back. It's kind of like dating a German chick, you know?
Trivia: Buttermaker gets a gentleman's club for the team's sponsor but one of the many sponsors he looks into first is Chico's Bail Bonds which was the team sponsor in the 1976 version of the movie.
