Other mistake: Gibbons asks for a lockdown, and on screen several doors appear in the map of the facility, in red, but the villains move undisturbed for big corridors past huge metal doors that would have easily slowed their path down if they closed. The movie does nothing to establish if they managed to prevent those doors from locking up, and how - they did not hack the system, they broke in blasting holes from the surface. (00:02:00)
Character mistake: The bad guys at the beginning of the movie launch a drone that scans for target. The woman's data appears in the HUD and it says "Stacey Canon - Interpol REGISRTY" (00:02:20)
Character mistake: The officer at the control room screen mapping the advance of the invading force tells Gibbons that they've covered all the halls, but looking at the map it's simply not true; if the man is a highly qualified professional, he is doing a terrible job, because he provides no help and paints the situation under the wrong light not telling the responders where the bad guys are coming from and all the areas (about 2/3 at that point) that are still secure. (00:02:40)
Character mistake: When the drone looks Gibbons in the eye, the 'elevation' data keeps fluctuating wildly between 33 and 39 meters, which is obviously wrong. Besides, they are underground. (00:03:10)
Other mistake: As they drive away from the base stormed by the mysterious invaders, Gibbons mentions that they need to get "off the grid." His watch indicates it's 12:45. The Secretary of Defense informs the President. Who, shocked, reschedules the budget meeting; the clock of the room signals 3:30, but the attack, in Virginia so not in a different timezone, "just" happened. (00:04:30 - 00:07:00)
Continuity mistake: The President's assistant asks him the first time we see him "Roses or tulips?" George appears out of the blue in the next shot despite being barely (perhaps) visible at the very end through the side door, while the other people in front of the President were exactly where they are in the new shot. (00:06:30)
Revealing mistake: In the fight against the first 2 prison guards, in the shots furthest away from action Ice Cube is replaced by a leaner stuntman. (00:10:40)
Continuity mistake: Darius Stone is fighting the first two wardens, the ones who have him in cuffs. One of them decks the other by mistake with the baton; the stuntman goes down on the ground next to Darius, face first, in the wide angle, but the actor is limp with his back to the door in the next shot. (00:11:00)
Continuity mistake: When Ice Cube is running out from jail, he kicks out the ventilator and climbs up the roof. Next shot from far, the ventilator is in its place. (00:11:10)
Continuity mistake: When Ice Cube climbs from the ventilator slot, the light changes between shots. (00:11:50)
Continuity mistake: After for some incredibly silly reason the sniper does not shoot Darius thus ending the movie early, the convict jumps off the roof and finds more guards to beat up. He faces the first one, punches him, a new one joins...only, not, since the next shot is of Ice Cube kicking some more the first, while the second is just now coming out of the door giving him more time to kick more butt. (00:12:20)
Continuity mistake: When Ice Cube fights three guards on the rooftop, the light varies significantly; just look at the guards when they are on the ground, the first one in particular, and where the shadow of the building extends. (00:12:40)
Continuity mistake: For his escape, Ice Cube leaps on the incoming surprise silent chopper. The trajectory of his leap is different in the various shots - he was never gonna be able to grab the skid the way he was falling in the first shots. (00:12:45)
Plot hole: Movies constantly cheat with helicopters that suddenly and silently arrive to save the day, but the scene goes beyond that; Ice Cube is fighting guards on the rooftop of the military maximum security prison at Fort Leavenworth. He suddenly jumps off the roof to catch the passing helicopter. Without even mentioning the noise problem, which is obvious and huge, that helicopter would have been spotted already by radars, prison snipers, the same guards that were battling Ice Cube, it flew in plain sight of a military installation! And raised no wind at all on the terrace flying at jumping distance from its ledge. (00:12:45)
Continuity mistake: When Darius is hanging on the helicopter, the way he holds it changes in between shots. (00:12:50)
Revealing mistake: When Ice Cube is escaping from prison and the prison sniper tries to shoot him down, the actor might as well been doing "pew-pew" noises with his mouth, because his finger is not even on the trigger. (00:13:00)
Factual error: The sniper that lets Ice Cube roam free the roof all cat-like tries to make up for his mistake by shooting him repeatedly as he boards the heli. Which is nothing short of miraculous, since he's doing it with a Remington 700PSS bolt action rifle, in his capable hands suddenly turning into semiauto. (00:13:00)
Other mistake: We know exactly when Darius escaped from prison; 12:06, so, at noon. The moment he gets in the car, he asks to enjoy some carnal pleasures with a burger, and so we see them in the next scene at the burger restaurant...at night. And they haven't talked about anything yet, not even where are they going. So...it's completely unexplainable what they've been doing all afternoon and how could they restrain a hungry Ice Cube all that time. Just a random time skip. (00:13:30 - 00:15:00)
Visible crew/equipment: When Agent Stone first escapes from jail and he is about to get into the GTO, as he opens the car door you can see a crewmember in the reflection of the car. And as they drive off, you can see the huge reflector screen in the back side of the car. (00:13:40)
Character mistake: When the unlikely trio of heroes gets off the helicopter and calmly boards the GTO, Samuel Jackson fails to properly close the car trunk, that stays semi-open. (00:13:55)
Answer: To break the surface of the water making an easier penetration. Hitting water at high speeds can be like hitting concrete. By stirring up the water it "softens" the impact.
