Continuity mistake: At the wedding ceremony, Prince Colwyn extinguishes his flame inside the basin of water. However in the next shot his baton is aflame again even though he only just put the fire out.
Continuity mistake: After Ergo turns himself into a goose, he finds his notes to turn himself back. Between shots the notes on the bank change position and the stones around them completely change too.
Continuity mistake: When Ynyr is bandaging Prince Colwyn, as he lies on the steps, Colwyn has his head resting to the right. In the next shot his head is positioned so it is facing upright.
Continuity mistake: When Prince Colwyn pulls the glaive out from the lava, his arm is completely covered in the lava goo. But as he watches the crust fall from the glaive, his whole arm is clean again.
Continuity mistake: During the battle between Colwyn and the Beast, the Beast is gigantic, seeming to be several times larger than a human. But when Colwyn tries to retrieve the Glaive from the body of the supposedly dead Beast, the Beast is now much smaller, not much bigger than a human.
Continuity mistake: During the journey that Prince Colwyn takes with Ynyr, and later Ergo too, the markings on Colwyn's horses face keep changing indictating that more than one horse was used.
Continuity mistake: When Prince Colwyn watches the crust fall off of the glaive, the crust doesn't fall off of the blade that Colwyn is holding in his hand. In the next shot the blade in his hand has no crust on it.
Continuity mistake: When Colwyn first retrieves the Glaive, he is holding it with one of the end of the arms sitting in his palm. Then he is instantly holding it by one of the arms so the blade can pop out without hurting his palm.
Answer: The Slayers are small, tentacled alien creatures that control durable metallic bodies. If the shell body sustains enough damage, the worm-like creature will abandon the metal frame and burrow underground. It would seem without the metal bodies the creatures are vulnerable if not entirely defenseless.
