Answer: The sand from the enchanted hourglass kept the spider from killing her. She breaks the hourglass and gives the sand to Ynyr. Once the sand has been poured out from his hands there's nothing to protect her from the spider.

Question: How exactly did Ynyr die? When he visits the Widow of the Web, he makes it safely to her without being attacked by the crystal spider. He even uses the sand from the hourglass to stop the spider from attacking him. But, when he makes his way back to where everyone's camping, he dies after telling Colwyn where the Black Fortress will appear.

Answer: Ynyr is told that the price of the information he gets is that his life will end when the sand runs out. It does after he reaches Colwyn.

Question: What are the Slayers? They have the bodies of men, but when they die something escapes into the sand from their "head." A parasite? A collection of tentacles?

Erik M.

Answer: The Slayers are small, tentacled alien creatures that control durable metallic bodies. If the shell body sustains enough damage, the worm-like creature will abandon the metal frame and burrow underground. It would seem without the metal bodies the creatures are vulnerable if not entirely defenseless.

Awesome! Thank you for the answer, Bacon! Have a great day.

Answer: I looked online and while there are many references about Michael Elphick dubbing Robbie Coltrane's voice, there was no explanation about why. Interestingly, Lysette Anthony, who played Lyssa, also was dubbed over by American actress, Lindsey Crouse, because it was thought she had a more "mature-sounding" voice. Presumably, the filmmakers felt a different voice better fit the character Coltrane played.

Answer: They were inexperienced actors, it was their first movie roles and didn't have formal vocal teachings.Robbie was said to have a very gruff, deep and thick accent, while Lysette was too high pitched.

This was not Coltrane's first movie and Anthony had been in TV movies and miniseries.

Continuity mistake: When Ynyr is bandaging Prince Colwyn, as he lies on the steps, Colwyn has his head resting to the right. In the next shot his head is positioned so it is facing upright.
