The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement

Corrected entry: In the second scene Mia says 5 years have passed since she found out she was a princess. She was a freshman at the time which means she only spent one year in college. While it is possible to graduate in one year she then references that Lilly (who was in her year) is now a grad student in Berkeley. A feat that would not be possible if she had only done a year of college.

Correction: First of all, Mia was a sophomore. Hence when she says "I just wanna pass 10th grade" in the first film. While it isn't common, there are probable ways for Lily to be in graduate school. She could have finished high school early, taken college courses while in high school, she also could have got her degree online which is typically quicker than getting one at a college or university. Any of these scenarios can make it possible for Lily to be a graduate student.

Corrected entry: At the tea party, the man starts singing in Chinese to honor the Asian guests. I don't speak Chinese, but the song he sings sounds a lot like "Miracles Happen" from the first movie.

Correction: There are a lot of references to the first movie, such as string cheese and face on a postage stamp. Also, saying 'shut up' and having the slang defined. It isn't trivia, just a reference to the first movie.

Corrected entry: When Queen Clarisse is talking to Charlotte in the church before going after Princess Mia, there is a guard in the background. He is standing right in front of the door frame and his sword is partially blocking the doorway. But the next shot of Queen Clarisse going out of that doorway, the guard is barely visible off to the side of the door.

Sheri Hartman

Correction: He moves. He saw the princess running and he most likey knew the queen wass going to go after her so her moved. Plain and Simple.

Corrected entry: Before the Independence Day parade, we see a blue Mustang convertible that Lilly is riding in during the parade. The mustang has an old black and gold California license plate on the front of the car. The other vehicles (cars bringing Princess Mia to the palace from the airport) seen so far have had a white plate of some kind on the front.

Sheri Hartman

Correction: Seeing as the Mustang is from somwhere in America it is highly likely that genovia has a different licence plate.

Corrected entry: Princess Mia was supposed to have danced with all the eligible bachelors of Genovia at her 21st birthday ball. But all of these eligible bachelors where not in the slide show for her to consider as an arranged marriage partner.

Sheri Hartman

Correction: We only saw a little bit of the slide show, so it is possible that they were shown, but the audience didn't see it. Besides, one eligble bachelor was shown, Prince Jacques, the 12-year-old Mia was dancing with after she danced with Nicholas.

Corrected entry: At the beginning of the movie Queen Clarisse has long, braided hair, and it's tied in a circle around the back of her head. Then, around the middle of the movie her hair is short, like it was in the first movie. At the end of the movie her hair is long, braided, and tied up again.

Correction: Fake hair and hair extensions are quite commonly used to achieve an elaborate hairdo, which is perfectly plausible for the Queen.

Sereenie

Corrected entry: During the mattress surfing game the Princess goes down on a flower mattress but arrives at the bottom on a striped mattress. (00:58:30)

Correction: The mattress surfing scene is full of quick cuts; when Princess Mia sides down, it was in two separate occurences.

Corrected entry: During the scene where Mia walks to the orphans during the parade, the commentator with the Scottish accent is heard to be speaking, but is shown not saying a word.

Correction: It is not the Scottish woman speaking, but the Beauty Pagaent Queen beside her.

Corrected entry: In the scene after Mia runs from the church, the Queen tells Mia to follow her heart and Mia gives her a hug. You can see Mia's left hand and she is not wearing her ring, however a few moments later she removes her ring to return it to Andrew. (01:32:40 - 01:33:10)

Correction: When you marry in church you are not supposed to have any rings on your left hand so most brides move their engagement ring to their right hand. This is what Mia has done.

Corrected entry: In the beginning as Mia begins archery practice, she explains that she is to shoot a flaming arrow through a hoop on the eve of her coronation. She ends up doing it the night of her "wedding." In the next scene, Genovia's anchorwoman announces that "it has been one week since [the wedding]," and that day Mia is to become Queen. Obviously she shot the arrow well before the eve before she became queen.

Correction: There is no indication that it was the same night. It could have very well been the night before the coronation.

Corrected entry: In the pajama party scene, the dark-haired guard with the moustache starts to dance while standing watch outside the closed bedroom door. They switch back to the party and he is keeping watch on the inside.

Correction: Actually, they are two different men who are in fact twins, also portraying twins with similar jobs. As stated by the director in the commentary, on the DVD.

Corrected entry: In the scene when the Queen and her bodyguard are about to walk down the aisle, she is not carrying any flowers. In the next scene, she is carrying Mia's bouquet.

Correction: Charlotte hands her the bouquet right before she walks down the aisle with her bodyguard.

Corrected entry: When Princess Mia loses her scarf at the beach and is rolling in the sand with Andrew, some type of equipment on a pole is visible and moving on top of the hill to the left.

Correction: There is equipment visible, but considering that they are being watched by a TV crew, it might be some equipment that they were using.

Continuity mistake: When Mia takes the chicken out of the basket and it gets loose, we see the chicken run away, followed by Mia running after the chicken, and finally the palace guard falling amid a number of boxed, gift-wrapped presents. The only boxed presents that were visible in any of the previous shots were already on the floor, and there were none anywhere close to the palace guard that he could have knocked down as he fell.

Question: The movie is supposed to be three years after the first movie, which would make her 18. But on all the trailers, they say she is 21. Why is this?

Answer: I have visited a lot of websites and they all say the movie is supposed to be taking place 5 years after the first one and that would put her at about 21 since it should be a little after her birthday. Don't assume because this movie's made 3 years after the first that that's how long after the first one it's meant to be set.
