Other mistake: Johnny Finger is supposed to be a crack shot, and in his first scene he supposedly beats three guys on the draw simultaneously. However, as he goes for his revolver with his left hand, it goes off almost immediately whilst still pointing straight downwards. (00:02:45)
Visible crew/equipment: After Johnny Finger makes his first entrance and shoots three guys, he looks over at the undertaker's shop, and reflected in the window of the shop next door is a crew member wearing a suit and tie. (00:02:55)
Audio problem: When we see the can-can dancers perform on-stage, the music is played by a full band including brass and drums, despite the fact that there's only a pianist on-stage. (00:22:10)
Suggested correction: This error is not unique to Carry On Cowboy. It seems that in very many western movies (and TV shows) there might be a scene in a saloon, in which a singer or some dancers are performing on a stage. In nearly all such occasions they seem to be accompanied by a full orchestra which is nowhere to be seen.
This is not a valid correction. To say the error exist in other films does not invalidate this error.
Sorry, I think I got that wrong. I was not trying to invalidate the error, far from it! What I meant to say was that I agree that this is quite an obvious error in Carry On Cowboy, and that this also seems to be a common, and rather amusing, error in many other western films as well.
Unfortunately at this time, valid mistake entries are not subject to forum discussion where one agrees or discusses the mistake. Just give the mistake a thumbs up if you agree with it.
Revealing mistake: When the stagecoach driver gets hit with an arrow, it springs up from below into a horizontal position. (00:33:55)
Audio problem: When Annie Oakley is singing her song her lips aren't moving to the words. The best time to see this is when the song plays "Love......." and even though her lips have stopped moving the song words are still going.
Continuity mistake: When Belle Armitage first shoots her pistol at Johnny Finger, she drops it down the front of her dress. Seconds later, it reappears up between her ample bosom.
Continuity mistake: When Marshall P. Knutt destroys the desk in the Inquiries office, he puts the top back on and the Inquiries sign on it. The man behind the desk then leans on the desk, destroying it again, but when Knutt leaves the office in the next shot, the desk top is back in place complete with the Inquiries sign.
Revealing mistake: At the very end, Belle is replaced on the horse by a very obvious dummy wearing a dress, just as the Rumpo Kid jumps onto the saddle.
Continuity mistake: When Sheriff Earp leaves his office to confront the Rumpo Kid his pistol barrels are seen extending at least six inches beyond the holsters. Seconds later, as he mounts his horse, the pistol barrels have changed to a more normal length.
