Corrected entry: Why was there an exact duplicate of Joanne lying on the table? According to "Mike," all that happened to the Stepford Wives were that little microchips were installed in their brains; there is nothing Body Snatchers-related going on.
Corrected entry: When Nicole Kidman's character finds out that Bette Midler's character has been turned into a Stepford Wife, Bette Midler puts her hand on a hot stove. Nothing happens to her hand, and she feels no pain. However, at the end when they destroy the microchips, Bette Midler's character goes back to normal, showing that she wasn't a robot, but affected by the chip. It is physically impossible for her not to burn her hand if she wasn't a robot when Nicole Kidman finds out she's a Stepford Wife. Also, if some of the Stepford Wives were robots and some just had microchips, then why would Faith Hill dance crazily as if she were a robot, and her boobs would get larger and smaller, but at the end of the movie she was only affected by a microchip, too?
Correction: As has been corrected at least twice so far, the women ARE robots. Their human brains are transplanted into robot bodies and then equipped with programmed microchips. Mike is LYING during the presentation because this process is much more drastic than the microchip insertion alone and could turn potential customers off. When the microchips are fried the women's brains are freed of the programming, but they're still in robot bodies much like Mike himself.
Corrected entry: If women are being changed by implanting chips, not altering their internal organs, why do they act like machines, like when they "spit" money?
Correction: Perhaps some of the wives ARE robots. It is possible that some men when they moved to Stepford were divorced or were not married at all - and would have wives manufactured for them. The ATM option may be an optional extra (albeit a gross one).
Corrected entry: The exercising Stepford Wives manage to drop their poles neatly on the hard floor without bending over and without making a sound.
Correction: The DVD version of the film was edited so that the wives have enough time offscreen to do this. This mistake no longer applies.
Corrected entry: In the scene where the family is first arriving in Stepford, the entire family is in the car, with Joanna passed out in the front passenger seat and her husband Walter in the driver's seat. The shot changes from the interior of the car to just outside the car so you can see Walter check out the neighborhood, and one of the Stepford wives. If you look at the car around him as he's looking out the window, his family has disappeared and are nowhere to be found in the car. (00:14:00)
Correction: If you look closely at the left hand side of the screen you can see Joanna's slumped figure just in the corner of the shot. Early it showed her leaning on the window so she is not reclined back on the headrest.
Corrected entry: When Christopher Walken dies, his head keeps appearing attached and away from his body several times during the shots.
Correction: Walken's head never reappears attached to his body. After Joanna knocks it off, Claire picks up the head and tries to reattach it, but fails and leaves the head approximately where it belongs. The next few shots show the head lying above the torso, but from that angle it's impossible to say that they are connected.
Corrected entry: When the family first arrives at their Stepford residence, the house is on the right side of the street. Later, when Broderick and Lovitz leave their wives at Broderick's house to go to the Men's Club, the house is at the end of a cul-de-sac.
Correction: That wasn't a cul-de-sac. That was their driveway. All of the houses had driveways and were not directly on the street.
Correction: The women are robots. Their human brains are equipped with the Stepford microchips, then the brains are transplanted into a replica robot body. How else do you think the wives are immune to being burnt or can produce money from their mouth? "Mike" was obviously keeping the body-switching a secret.
