Corrected entry: Director Guillermo del Toro opted to do this film over "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban."
Corrected entry: In the scene in the subway station when Hellboy is fighting Sammael, he grabs the monster by the tongue and swings him through a large window. Sammael jumps down and is hanging in the subway tunnel, but can't get away because HB still has a hold of his tongue. The train hits and kills Sammael. But when the shot goes back to Hellboy, the tongue, which should still be attached to his hand, is gone. He's holding his hand out as if it's still there, but I guess they forgot to add it later in CGI. (01:00:15)
Correction: You see the tongue unravel and fall off his arm.
Corrected entry: When Hellboy goes into the museum, he finds the entity and says "Hey, Stinky! You have six library guards raw, plus belts and boots." But the entity doesn't eat the belts and the boots; they're spread out on the floor with the clothes, only the bodies are eaten.
Corrected entry: In the beginning, the freak puts his coat behind him, as he watches the procedures around him, but in the next shot, the coat is around him, as before.
Corrected entry: When Kronen is getting ready to kill Broom at the beginning, the Sargent shoots Kronen. One shot hits Kronen's mask and the bullet ricochets off of it, yet there is no dent in the mask.
Correction: Kroenen is a skilled craftsman, so why is it odd that his mask would be made out of something bullet proof?
Corrected entry: When Abe shows Broom what happened in the library you see Kroenan crawl down the wall and stand up. In the next shot you see him already halfway over to the glass cabinet but he didn't even start to walk yet when we last saw him.
Correction: Perfectly standard cinematic technique of time compression. We don't need to physically see Kroenen walk the whole distance, it just wastes time.
Corrected entry: When Ilsa pours the contents of the flask from the statue on the floor of the museum, not all of its contents are emptied. In the next shot, she's seen standing in the background with the flask completely empty. (00:44:10)
Corrected entry: At the museum, if you watch Kroenen slice the statue open in slowmo, you can see that the cut doesn't appear until after he is finished with the motion (it should appear gradually during the cut) and shows up in the wrong place (it starts below the statue's left hand, but he sliced above it). (00:41:00)
Correction: The rules of this site are quite clear; if you have to use slow mo to see a mistake, then it doesn't count as a valid entry.
Corrected entry: We've established that Hellboy can bleed when he gets cut by Kronen and when Sammael plants the eggs in his arm. We've also established that Kronen's swords are extremely sharp by the way he cuts through a statue with one swipe. But in the fight with Kronen in Rasputin's crypt, Hellboy grabs both swords with his non-stone hand and Kronen cannot free them. And later, in close-ups, there are no cuts on Hellboy's "normal" hand.
Correction: 1. They are tonfas, not swords. 2. It's physics. If you look into the way tonfas work, especially bladed tonfas, you would see that much of the power is derived from the spinning of the tonfa itself and the spinning of the body. This is why prior to his cutting the statue, he spends a second or two spinning it; to build momentum. So, though the blades are sharp, when Hellboy grabs Kroenen's tonfas, there is no movement of the blades which would cut him. He is holding them in place, and punching Kroenen, disorienting him, not allowing him to strike back.
Corrected entry: At the start when Myers says, "These? You're reading these?" and Abe nods in response, his eyelids are easily visible blinking down, like a normal humans. But for the rest of the film they seem to come from an angle.
Corrected entry: Ilsa holds up a case filled with Nazi gold to the Russians. That much gold would be too heavy for her to hold with one arm. (01:28:10)
Correction: Who knows what powers come with eternal life and youth? Enormous strength? Why not?
Corrected entry: At the beginning, when Rasputin is talking to Ilsa he says, "Whatever happens tonight" but his mouth says, "Whatever happens to me."
Correction: After watching the scene he does say tonight. Because of the way he was talking the word tonight might have appeared as me.
Corrected entry: When we see Hellboy with stocks around his head and hands, the hole holding his left hand is easily big enough for him to get his hand through (not that it would have helped). (01:47:55)
Corrected entry: When Hellboy raises what's left of Ivan from the dead he still has eyes, teeth and a gray beard. This is highly unlikely since these parts of the body are usually the first to decompose.
Corrected entry: When Hellboy tosses Manning under the door in the crypt maze, slow-mo shows the wire pulling Manning is visible at his neck just after he starts sliding. (01:30:55)
Correction: As stipulated in the rules of the site, if you need to use slo-mo in order to spot something, then it's not a valid mistake.
Corrected entry: After the opening scenes in which the American soldiers have defeated the German troops on the island off the coast of Scotland, there is a still photo of the American troops, Hellboy and Professor Broom in a group shot. In the picture there are at least two black soldiers among the group. Since this took place in 1944, the U.S. Army was very much segregated and there is no way black and white soldiers would have been in the same combat units together, much less on a "secret" mission.
Correction: I think it far more likely whoever was in charge of this highly secret and unusual mission would pick the best soldiers he could get, no matter what color.
Corrected entry: When Hellboy is standing outside the asylum, one of the patients is heard saying, "There's a big red man down there." A nurse replies, "Santa isn't coming for another month." Since Hellboy has just walked through a big Halloween party, it's actually 2 months until Christmas.
Correction: It is not uncommon for volunteers dressed as Santa to visit asylums, hospitals, and schools in the run up to xmas. The nurse could be referring to the fact that "Santa" will be making a visit in a month.
Corrected entry: When Hellboy and Kronen are fighting in Rasputin's crypt, you can see chunks of stone flying off of HB's stone hand every time he's struck by the swords. But the hand never seems to lose any pieces and when it is shown later in close-ups, is completely undamaged.
Correction: Not true, look closely and see that there are chips all over the surface of the hand.
Corrected entry: When the character of Abe is introduced, it is stated that he was found the day Abraham Lincoln died, which is how he got his name. However, the wrong date is given - the movie says Lincoln died on April 14, 1865, but he actually died on April 15. (00:20:45)
Correction: The movie is based around conspiracies so it could be saying Abe Lincoln really did die at that date and not the date everyone is lead to believe.
Corrected entry: When Hellboy and the agents go back to look for eggs in the subway, they enter through a working subway tunnel. Later, when HB is searching for Kronen and encounters Sammael, they fall into a hole, fighting as they drop hundreds of feet. But they crash through the ceiling of a subway station. Why is there another subway system hundreds of feet below the one they came in through?
Correction: In subway systems, different lines run on different levels, to allow the tunnels to cross each other without interference.
Correction: Not true, he opted to do this film instead of Blade 3.
