The Girl Next Door mistake picture

Continuity mistake: When Matt, his friends and Danielle arrive at the party, Danielle is wearing a top where her cleavage is visible. When they enter the house, Danielle is wearing a different top where you can't see her cleavage.

Continuity mistake: When Danielle and Matthew are sitting in the diner, she draws a picture on a place mat with crayons and then slides it across the table to him. Later in the movie when Matt hands it back to her at the convention, the drawing is larger. Admittedly, the place mat is also twice as wide as it was in the diner, but it should not be.

Continuity mistake: In the diner scene when Danielle is drawing the picture, it goes from having hair to not having hair, and back between shots.

Audio problem: During the scene at the AVN convention, when Matt sees Danielle by her big poster dancing and signing autographs for a group of fans, he walks over and starts pleading his true feelings and asks her to come down and talk to him. Right as he pleads, "This is all my fault", the camera shot slightly to the left and behind Matt does not show his lips moving at all.

Ferrari: Your name is Klitz?
Klitz: With a K.

Trivia: In the director's commentary, Luke Greenfield revealed that during the scene where Emile Hirsch is getting a lap dance in the strip club (the scene might have been removed in the theatrical version) they had to put about 4 pillows between Emile Hirsch and the stripper. This was due to the fact that Emile Hirsch was only 17 when the film was made and under child pornography laws he could not have a naked woman touch his body. (00:42:40)

Question: What was the point of the police officer being in a crash at the beginning of the film. I didn't really see the point of it as it didn't play any part in the storyline.

Answer: While it doesn't have anything to do with the overall plot, the crash shows just how much Matthew is afraid to do the wrong thing and perhaps how he overthinks things. As we know all he would be doing is missing a bit of school by getting in his car and driving from the school. The fact that Matthew is able to imagine an horrific crash of a security guard because of just skipping school shows how worried he is about doing the wrong thing.
