Cheaper by the Dozen

Continuity mistake: When Gunner is running under the table towards Hank, on the left we can see Henry's and Jake's legs as if they are sitting at the table. But neither Henry or Jake are sitting at the table at this moment, we see them come into the room a few seconds later. (00:38:05)

Continuity mistake: When Sarah and Jake grab a handful of meat from the kitchen, Sarah is wearing purple and Jake is wearing red. Both are wearing different clothes a moment later when they are in the basement with Mike and Henry, soaking the underwear. (00:34:45)

Continuity mistake: When Dylan's mom makes Dylan leave the Bakers' house, he still has his rollerblades on. In the next scene, where he and his parents are walking on the sidewalk back to their house, he's in his normal shoes.

Suggested correction: He probably changed into his regular shoes after they rolled him out. Even though they didn't show him changing doesn't mean he didn't.

Visible crew/equipment: When they find Mark at the train station in Midland his mother gives him a hug, and a crew member's shadow is visible on Jake Baker's T-shirt.

Visible crew/equipment: When Mark goes back to his bedroom, after the fight with his family, you can see a crew member reflected on the door before he enters the room.

Factual error: Children must be 15 or older to ride Amtrak alone. Mark is not 15.

Continuity mistake: Near the beginning when the twins go to work with Tom, you see a zoomed out shot of the entire field. You see two of the players slam into the mats that Nigel and Kyle are on, but in the zoomed in shot, they do it again.

Continuity mistake: After breakfast at the beginning, when Mark leaves after Sarah says, "Nice move, Fedex", there is a white cup in front of Jessica which disappears when the camera changes angle.

Continuity mistake: When Mark and Tom get off the train, Mark is wearing his hat. When the rest of the family come around the corner, he is not wearing his hat. We see it fall halfway out the pocket of his coat when he hugs Kate, but it seems he did not have enough time to take it off and put it in the pocket of his coat, especially given the fact he was using both hands to carry the box with his belongings inside. Question: Does it seem strange to anyone else that these kids, including teenagers, can't help take care of themselves for two weeks? My family has six kids and we can function for a week or two when Mom and Dad go out of town. In a large family, parents usually raise their children to help out a lot more and be more responsible.

Answer: It seems that the fact the family can't take care of themselves is added to part of the humour of the film. 12 children is a lot, and think about all those rows and all that mess.

It's not like they couldn't take care of themselves. As shown with the breakfast scene at the beginning, they seem to function pretty well when they all get along. Tom and Kate were just usually home more frequently than some other parents. It also didn't help that it was the first time that one of the parents was gone for an extended period and the parent that was left home (Tom) had never had to deal with all the kids on his own. Also, the only time we see complete chaos in the house is the first day that Kate has been gone. After that the kids are more behaved (at home).
