Spider-Man 2
Spider-Man 2 mistake picture

Continuity mistake: When Doc Ock escapes from the hospital, he hits a taxi with his tentacle. The taxi goes flying and is about to land on its roof in the middle of the street. The next shot however shows the taxi landing on top of another one, and the taxi is right side up.

Continuity mistake: After Doc Ock throws the car through the side of the deli, it shows Peter and MJ from outside the building and there's a table with a chair at the base of the hole right up next to the nonexistent wall. For the rest of the scene, the table and chair are not there.

Continuity mistake: During the scene where Peter is on his way to the play, he stops the cop car flying through the air by catching it in a web, but the glass shards and debris which are flying along with the car are not in the web anywhere, nor do they hit the people in the path of the car.

Continuity mistake: As Mary Jane is reunited with John Jameson after Spider-Man lowers her down from the crane, one shot shows tears along Spider-Man's suit along the left leg while he is crouching. However, in a later shot, he stands up to swing away and the tears are now running along his right leg.

Continuity mistake: After Peter came out of the deli, you could see and hear people running around screaming hysterically. But when the shot showed Peter's glasses falling to the ground in slow motion, you could see people were just walking down the street leisurely.

Continuity mistake: As Peter is walking along the top of the building, about to do his "I'm back" jump, he is about three quarters of the way past a skylight on the roof. Then the shot changes, and he is just walking up to it.

Continuity mistake: As Ock climbs the building with Aunt May, a girl is on the phone and feels the trembles. She hangs up the phone and gets up to look out the window. At the desk in front of her, there is an employee helping a customer. As the first girl goes to the window, the customer gets up to leave. The tentacle crashes through the side of the building, the camera pans out and the employee helping the customer is away from her desk, the chair is pushed in and the phone is off the receiver.

Continuity mistake: When Peter is being fired from his pizza place job, there is a clock behind him. While the clock is on Peter the second hand is near the 4. The shot then changes to the boss and then goes back to Peter about 10 seconds later, so the second hand should be on the 6 or the 7, but it is up at the 2.

Continuity mistake: On the way to the play when Spider-Man is chasing the criminals in the car, the passenger is using a shotgun which switches to an automatic weapon which then switches back to a shotgun in a matter of seconds. There is no time for him to switch the guns that fast in the scene.

Continuity mistake: When the car flies past Peter's head, we have a full view of the tire rim which means we are looking at the side of the car. But this view is only possible if the car were thrown in head-first or tail-first, which wasn't the case.

Continuity mistake: At the end of the "I've changed" conversation with Mary Jane, the taxi is right next to her as she turns towards it (you can see its roof next to her face), yet in the very next shot she has to cross the street to get to it.

Sereenie

Continuity mistake: When Harry is held upside-down by Doc Ock, his tie is tacked to his shirt partway down (so it doesn't fly in his face). A couple seconds later, on the balcony, Harry's tie is not tacked.

Continuity mistake: While in the bank trying to get a loan, there is a desk with two chairs behind Peter and Aunt May. As Doc Ock throws the vault door in their direction and Peter kicks the two of them out of danger, there are no chairs at the desk behind them.

bluedrop90

Continuity mistake: In the scene where Aunt May is outside her house, packing things into boxes, we see a close-up of her holding what appears to be a large black leather shoe at upper chest level. The next shot is a wide shot of the yard, and now she's holding it in a different position near waist level.

Continuity mistake: The spiderweb that Harry brushes aside is missing from two previous shots: from inside the secret lair looking out at Harry, and from the reverse shot looking into the lair.

Continuity mistake: In the final conversation between Peter and Mary Jane at his doorway, the lighting on his face switches in every shot.

Phoenix

Continuity mistake: When John Jameson and Mary Jane are walking down the stairs during John's celebration party, there are two people halfway down the staircase standing by themselves. When it does the closeup of John and Mary Jane, there are four people now standing in that spot.

bluedrop90

Continuity mistake: In the first few shots of Mary Jane held hostage by Dr. Octopus in the factory, her arms above her head change from straight to bent and back.

Phoenix

Continuity mistake: In the train scene, Spider-Man is thrown through a window and the fight continues over the broken window. When a train is coming from the opposite direction, Spider-Man leans over to avoid it, and the window isn't broken anymore.

Plot hole: Harry tells Doc Ock that in order to find Spider-Man he must find Peter first. Doc Ock finds Peter with Mary Jane in the cafe and throws a car through the window straight at them, then later throws Peter against a brick wall. Any normal person would've been killed instantly (or very badly injured), and Doc Ock doesn't yet know that Peter is Spider-Man. Given that Peter is his only lead on Spider-Man, it makes no sense that Doc Ock would try to kill him.

Suggested correction: Doc Ock is being controlled by the arms. They aren't behaving rationally.

Creating a series of silly explanations for obvious plot holes never resolves them. These arms were not behaving irrationally. In many scenes they were shown to be very intelligent. A good example is the scene where they attack doctors who try to remove them from Doc Ock's body. Saying that they weren't behaving rationally is absurd.

He may not have been trying to kill Peter, he could've been trying to make more of a scene of his entry, so Peter would take him more seriously and tell him where Spider-Man was. He could've been thinking of it as a risk of killing Peter though, but his arms made him go crazy.

This is only a theory. Theories never resolve mistakes.

It's not a theory. When Otto is first giving his demonstration to everybody at his apartment, a woman asks if the advanced AI for the tentacles would make him susceptible to being controlled. Otto says that yes it would so he shows everybody the inhibitor chip that he designed so he would not fall under its control. After the inhibitor chip gets destroyed, it's seen that the tentacles have not only taken control of his mind by forcing him to commit crimes, but have slowly driven him insane.

This scene is much too confusing for many people. This entry is correct. This is a mistake.

If these tentacles wanted him to finish the experiment then they wouldn't make him kill the person who has valuable information for him.

The arms are influencing his thoughts but not controlling every part of him. Doc Ock still seems to have control when defending himself but they seem to work in tandem with Ock. The only time they work on their own is when he under anesthetic. As we don't see him before he throws the car, we can only speculate the arms were trying to hurt Peter by themselves.

Lummie

It's a cool scene regardless man.

Killing Peter would probably send a message to Spider-Man as well, so Ock probably wasn't concerned about being gentle.

May Parker: We need a hero, couragous sacrificing people, setting examples for all of us. Everybody loves a hero, people line up for 'em, cheer for them, scream their names, and years later tell how they stood in the rain for hours just to get a glimpse of the one who told them to HOLD ON a second longer. I believe theres a hero in all of us, that keeps us honest, gives us strength, makes us noble. And finally gets us to die with pride. Even though sometimes we have to be steady and give up the thing we want most, even our dreams.

More trivia for Spider-Man 2

Question: What exactly does Aunt May mean when she says, "What do you mean 'we'" after Spider-Man tells her, "We sure showed him"? Is she just being modest?

Answer: She's actually being funny because she thinks that she did all the work, instead of Spider Man.

Allyson

Answer: I later found out it could have been a reference to a Spider-Man comic. In the comic, after he rescues a girl from a bad guy, she says "We sure showed him!" There is a thinking bubble by Spider-Man's head saying "We?" It's like the conversation in the movie but in reverse.
