Visible crew/equipment: At the end of the film, when Harry enters Lupin's office, he walks past a cabinet full of skulls, saying "You've been sacked?" Reflected in the glass panel of the cabinet is a cameraman with equipment, moving along with the camera, a little above Harry. He's a little hard to see, but he's there! (02:01:30)
Visible crew/equipment: At the end of the film when Harry is in Lupin's office, Lupin packs his bags and then he walks past his desk. He then starts saying "If I am proud..." to Harry. As he says this, he walks forwards towards Harry, passing a cabinet of skulls. Reflected ahead of him in the glass panel of the cabinet is a very large boom mic which slowly moves out of sight as Lupin walks forward. It is very visible. (02:02:30)
Continuity mistake: At the end of the film when Harry gets on the Firebolt, everyone is running outside, and there is no crowd properly formed beside the water fountain, yet when Harry takes off there is a very large crowd watching him all of a sudden. (02:04:05)
Continuity mistake: After saying goodbye to Harry, Sirius climbs onto Buckbeak and Hermione hands the chain to Sirius. In the next shot Sirius holds the chain differently. (02:04:15)
Continuity mistake: When Harry is in Lupin's office, as the Professor says, "I resigned..." his cane leans against the corner of the trunk beside the doorway. Yet when Harry says, "But Dumbledore..." the cane hangs off the center of the trunk. As Harry says, "None of it made any difference," the cane is gone, but when Lupin says, "You helped uncover the truth," the cane hangs again. Then when Lupin says, "If I am proud of anything..." the cane leans against the corner, but wait, when Lupin leaves the office the cane hangs off the trunk once again. (02:06:10)
Continuity mistake: As Harry reaches Lupin's office, Lupin stands by the bookcase and the front end of the valise under the desk points towards the right. However, when Lupin says, "No, no, I resigned," the front end points the opposite way. Then when Harry walks to the doorway, it's the same way as the first shot. (02:06:10)
Continuity mistake: When Harry first reaches Lupin's office, as Lupin is packing, the Marauder's Map lies open on the desk. The map folds change position when Lupin says, "I saw you coming." (02:06:10)
Continuity mistake: As Lupin packs in his office, the gramophone and books on his desk are visible in many shots. When Harry first walks in, the set of three thin books, bound with a string at the top of one pile, as well as the gramophone and other books noticeably change their position in quite a few shots. (02:06:10)
Continuity mistake: As Harry approaches Lupin's desk, the open trunk is visible to his left, near the window. When Lupin tucks his belongings away in his trunk, items such as the books are positioned differently. (02:06:30)
Continuity mistake: While Harry is in Lupin's office, Lupin's coat, which lies on a trunk, changes its position multiple times, as does the trunk. (02:06:30)
Continuity mistake: In Lupin's office, the chair, vase on the floor, etc., between the window and fireplace significantly change positions. Noticeable when Lupin says, "This time tomorrow the owls will start arriving..." then continues, "Dumbledore has already risked enough on my behalf," to the close-up when he magically packs his belongings in the trunk and thereafter. (02:06:40)
Continuity mistake: When Harry first arrives at Lupin's office as he packs, the skulls with the horns, sitting atop the bookcase, are visible. In the following shots, the skulls not only drastically alter their positions, the one with the very tall horns is actually gone in some shots. (02:07:45)
Other mistake: After receiving the new Firebolt Harry runs outside to use it. In the close-up as he takes off and in the next wide shot many of the students' eyes are not in sync with Harry's flight. (02:09:15)
Continuity mistake: As Harry quickly flies off on his Firebolt, in the wide shot when he rounds the fountain, Percy, Ron and Hermione stand in front of Fred, George and Neville. However, in the next back shot Fred, George and Neville stand in front of Percy. (02:09:20)
Continuity mistake: When Harry arrives at Lupin's office the tall dark ornate chair sits directly in front of the corner of Lupin's desk, with one of its chair legs right beside the desk leg. However, in the wide shot when Lupin explains that he resigned, the chair is much further away. Then after Lupin leaves, when Harry walks towards the door, the chair is beside the desk again. (02:16:10)
Deliberate mistake: It was a deliberate directorial decision to change the geography of Hogwarts, but it still grates with continuity. Most of the Buckbeak scenes happen around Hagrid's hut, which is down all those steps and near the forest. However in the Philosopher's Stone, Hagrid's hut is about 5 seconds walk from one of the main entrances of the school, nowhere near a load of steps and huge hill. Also, the Whomping Willow (which itself differs greatly) is on the grounds of the castle, as you see it on flat land when Harry and Ron land the flying car in the Chamber of Secrets, however in this one it is right away from the school next to quite rocky land.
Plot hole: Harry never notices that the name "Peter Pettigrew" appears on the Marauder's Map, right next to "Ronald Weasley." Way beyond a character mistake, as there's no way that wouldn't be cause for interest. If nothing else, Ron's brothers who had the map for years before giving it to Harry, would most certainly have wondered why their brother was sleeping with a person named Peter Pettigrew.
Continuity mistake: When Marge insults Harry's parents, Harry gets angry and screams "Shut up." In the very next shot, from behind Petunia, Petunia turns her head behind to look at Harry. The next shot is a side on/wide shot and Petunia's head is not turned behind, in fact she is now looking in Vernon's direction. In the next shot, which is again a shot from behind Petunia, she is looking behind again.
Continuity mistake: The cuts including the one with butterfly closures on Hermione's cheek and the scratches on Harry's cheek change position/characteristics in many shots throughout, even in consecutive shots.
Continuity mistake: After bowing to Buckbeak, Harry removes the chain from the ring on the wood post, with the crow sitting on it. In the close-up, the wood post with its metal hardware, and the actual black crow, all noticeably differ from the previous and following shots.
Suggested correction: JK Rowling explained why Ron's brothers didn't wonder why Ron was sleeping with a man named Peter Pettigrew. Here is the link: https://scifi.stackexchange.com/questions/11447/why-couldnt-harry-or-anybody-else-see-peter-pettigrew-aka-scabbers-on-the-marau.
