The Corridors of Time: The Visitors II (1998)
Plot summary
Directed by: Jean-Marie Poiré
Starring: Jean Reno, Christian Clavier, Marie-Anne Chazel, Muriel Robin
The story begins in the 12th century, where Godefroy de Montmirail (played by Jean Reno) and Jacquouille la Fripouille (played by Christian Clavier) are preparing to embark on a journey to the Holy Land during the Crusades. Just as they are about to leave, they encounter a sorcerer who hands them a spell to help Jacques return to his own time if needed.
However, during their journey, Godefroy and Jacquouille get caught in a storm and accidentally transported to the 20th century. They find themselves in the year 1998, in the midst of a bustling city. Confused and disoriented, the medieval duo tries to adapt to their new surroundings.
Meanwhile, back in the 12th century, a distant relative of Godefroy named Aymar (played by Christian Clavier) is tasked to find a way to bring them back. With the help of the sorcerer's spell, Aymar also ends up in the 20th century and discovers Godefroy and Jacquouille.
The three of them try to blend in with the modern world but face several challenges due to their medieval mindset. They struggle with technology, laws, and customs, often causing unintentional chaos wherever they go. Their antics attract the attention of the police, who begin to pursue them.
In the midst of their troubles, Godefroy falls in love with a history professor named Béatrice (played by Muriel Robin) who bears a striking resemblance to Godefroy's wife in the 12th century. They develop a bond, despite the vast differences in their backgrounds.
As they navigate the modern world, Godefroy, Jacquouille, and Aymar also discover that the evil sorcerer who sent them into the future has followed them. The sorcerer is determined to capture Godefroy and obtain the secret of time travel for his own nefarious purposes.
With the help of Beatrice and a few allies they make along the way, the trio devises a plan to return to the 12th century while outsmarting the sorcerer. They manage to find the necessary ingredients for the spell and prepare to perform it at a specific time and place.
However, just as they are about to return home, the sorcerer intervenes, capturing Godefroy and Jacquouille. Aymar, Béatrice, and their allies fight back, engaging in a comical battle with the sorcerer and his henchmen.
In the end, Godefroy and Jacquouille are freed, and Aymar successfully performs the spell to return them all to the 12th century. Godefroy bids farewell to Béatrice, knowing that their worlds are too different to be together. Back in the 12th century, Godefroy and Jacquouille resume their lives, having learned valuable lessons from their time travel adventure.
