Continuity mistake: When Elle wakes up in her hotel, she looks out the window. Just a moment before, there was a speed-time shot of the sun rising; however, when she's looking out the window and talking in standard time, the sun's reflection is still moving awful fast.
Continuity mistake: In the scene where Elle is at the Lincoln Memorial, her shadow alternately is cast away and towards the statue depending on the camera shot.
Continuity mistake: When Elle has her comitee hearing, she says when introducing Bruiser "my best friend..." then you see her put down a sign that says Mr.Bruiser in front of Bruiser and you can see her lips forming the words "my best friend...Bruiser" in the right top corner. When the camera shots Elle again she says "Bruiser".
Continuity mistake: In the scene where Elle sees her desk in D.C., she starts listing things that she'll need to make desk pretty. When she does this, she takes off her white gloves, but when she's finished listing, it zooms in to Bruser and you can see that her gloves are still on.
Continuity mistake: When Elle is at the Lincoln Memorial, the staff members come up behind her to talk. On the close up shots, they are shoulder to shoulder, even overlapping. On the wide scenes from above, they are at least an arm's length apart.
Continuity mistake: When Elle is talking to Grace about her pushing the Homeowner's Incentive Bill, Grace has a spoon in her hand in one shot. In the next shot, she has a stirrer in her hand.
Continuity mistake: In the scene where Sally Field is about to be interviewed by Connie Chung, we see her walking towards Elle as she comes in. Her black pearls are on the outside of her jacket lapels, but as she turns around to walk away from Elle her pearls are now tucked neatly under the lapels of the jacket.
Continuity mistake: In the scene when Elle is sitting at the table talking to Emmett about coming home, you see a security guard walk past in the background. When Elle sees Grace and walks towards her, you see the same guard walking past again.
Continuity mistake: When Victoria is getting her makeup done, she is talking to Elle, they change the camera angles every time it is Elle's or Victoria's turn to talk. You can see that the makeup artist is changing the position of the brush she is holding, from up to down and up again and so on and so on...every time they change the shots.
Answer: Elle was in the Law School class of 2003 which graduated in Spring 2003. She became an intern in Fall 2003 thus 2003 Intern. At the end of the first movie, she is signing up new students for the Blonde Legal Defense Club under a sign that says "Welcome Class of 2004", but this is at the beginning of her second year - the new students are 2004, she is 2003.
None of that happened in any of the movies. I'm confused. Elle graduated the class of 2004 in the first movie, but the second movie takes place in 2003.
