44 Minutes: The North Hollywood Shoot-Out

On Friday the 28th of February 1997, two men armed with illegally modified AK-47 machine guns try to pull a heist at the Bank of America in North Hollywood following a cash delivery. However the plan goes wrong when the delivery doesn't take place and so they decide to rob the bank. After getting the money they leave the bank to find a heavy police presence already and decide to try and fight their way out. As such they are embroiled into a massive shootout by the LAPD lasting 44 minutes. Following the gunmen as they try to escape on foot and in a car, we see how the LAPD held their nerve and used pure willpower to overcome the two gunmen with a shocking result at the end.

Audio problem: When the cops get into the gun shop to buy some weapons you see a police officer on the left loading a M4 (or checking something) but you never hear the sound of this action.

Question: At the end of the film, there is a series of clips and news articles covering the aftermath of the shootout. Does anyone know if the clips in the film are genuine news clips from the aftermath of the event or if they are filmed for the purpose of this movie? One shot shows 3 LAPD officers getting a medal presented to them, one shows footage of people taking gifts to the LAPD etc.
