Continuity mistake: When the baddies make a hole in the wall to grab the money, the size of the hole, the hanging parts of the wall and the protruding isolation foil change between one shot and another without no-one having touched the wall. (01:14:40)
Continuity mistake: Brian stops racing and Suki arrives next. She places her arm over the windshield but a shot later her arm is gone. (00:14:01)
Continuity mistake: At the end of the movie, Roman's shirt changes between 3 different shades of blue. Light color when talking with Brian about Verone, then changes when talking with Bilkins, and finally as Brian and him are walking away talking about opening a garage together.
Continuity mistake: The way Eva Mendez holds the shotgun at the end changes depending on the shot. Note her fingers on the barrel. (01:32:50)
Visible crew/equipment: When the guys arrive at the house to get all the money, the silver 4x4 pulls up and the camera pans along it. When it does you can see the camera's shadow on the paint. (01:12:20)
Visible crew/equipment: When the orange muscle car gets to the barrels in the drag race, there is an overhead shot where a camera is reflected very briefly. (00:50:30)
Continuity mistake: Rome rips his shirt off at the car impound lot and rips the last few the buttons off. When they are at Verone's place, his shirt is entirely done up. (00:34:10)
Continuity mistake: When Verone is explaining about the Ferrari being at an impound in Little Haiti, there is a shot of the group from behind. Camera cuts, and Rome has moved a good 3 feet instantly to the left. (00:27:40)
Continuity mistake: When the Skyline is jumping over the Supra, In the POV from outside the cars are quite a distance apart. In the shot from inside the Supra they are a lot closer. (00:12:00)
Continuity mistake: When we see Brian driving over the bridge to get to the race, the position of the other cars in relation to him keeps changing instantly. (00:03:45)
Visible crew/equipment: Right at the start there is a shot of a camera panning up over a 4x4. When it does you can see the camera's shadow moving over the paint. (00:00:55)
Other mistake: In the first race scene when the Skyline jumps the Supra, the Supra is doing around 120 mph, and when the Skyline jumps it the speedometer shows approximately 160 kph or about 96 mph, so it would have been unable to make the jump.
Deliberate mistake: The relay drag race takes much longer to complete than it should. Each leg is a quarter mile going and back, the cars involved should be able to make their runs in much less time than is shown. Brian even tells Roman that the Yenko (the blue Camaro) can do a quarter mile in 5 seconds flat, but it still takes ten times that long to complete the entire run.
Continuity mistake: When Brian Roman arrive at Tej's garage after meeting with Verone at the club, Tej, Jimmy, and Suki are playing cards. There is a shot of them at the table and then an overshot view showing clear solo cups which appears to have beer in them. But after Brian gives Suki a kiss, then next shots show red solo cups on the table, not clear.
Continuity mistake: When Verone and Monica meet up with Brian before they get on the boat, in the background one of Verone's men walks up the dock and stops at the beginning. When Verone tells one of his men to put Monica on the boat, next shot cuts to Brain, and back to Verone. The guy at the beginning of the dock is not there but midway down the dock. It then shows him walking up again when Verone points the shotgun at Monica.
Continuity mistake: In the shots of Brian trying to remove the metal claw from his Evo, tyre marks are constantly appearing and disappearing from the road. (01:16:00)
Continuity mistake: When the cops show up, we see Suki drive off. A few seconds later we see her drive off again. (00:14:00)
Revealing mistake: When the cars are in the air, they are CGI. They have a line around them. (00:11:50)
Revealing mistake: When Rome and Paul are fighting at the derby, in some shots you can see Paul's stunt double. (00:21:00)
Factual error: When Brian pulls into the impound lot at about 70 - 80 mph, he smashed down a pole to get through a gate, you see him crunch the front of his car, but what he also crunched was his front mounted intercooler, thus restricting or even stopping airflow to the engine, no air equals no combustion, so the engine should have stalled or stuttered and eventually shut off, either way, his car was toast and he shouldn't have been able to get back on the highway.
Chosen answer: The detective was tortured because Verone needed a window of time without any police presence and the detective refused to allow it. The girl is just some random hottie that works for Verone.
