Corrected entry: In Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, Jim Carrey visited a friend of his who was redirecting a Norwegian whaling fleet. He says "they'll find Jimmy Hoffa before they find any humpback whales". In this film, Jimmy Hoffa's body is found. (00:23:30)
Corrected entry: In the scene where Bruce is seducing Grace, right in the shot of her collapsing onto the floor in the bathroom, you can see she knocks the toilet paper roll off the rack as she hits the floor. When the shot shows her standing in the bathroom doorway with her hair all messed up, the toilet paper roll is now back onto the rack. (00:44:20)
Correction: After Grace falls to the floor, the pangs of passion subside enough for her to get to her feet and come to the door. We do not see this, as the camera is only on Bruce (in the bedroom). It is not impossible that as she managed to compose herself enough to get up, she picked up the toilet paper roll and put it back. Many people do little tidying things like this absent-mindedly, while they are thinking about other things.
Perhaps, but she didn't clean up the other stuff she knocked off the shelf, and really, given that she's just had the greatest orgasm of her life, and is about to go have sex, how much do you really think she'd care about fixing it?
Corrected entry: In the scene where Bruce switches everything to files, then Post Its, that scene was shot on September 11, 2002. So everyone that worked on the set, all the cast and crew, wrote down something about how they felt about the attacks on a Post-It. Every one of those was in that scene.
Correction: It was NOT shot on the day, just "not too long after the anniversary of 9/11" as the audio-commentary points out. And the prayers are NOT only about 9/11, everybody could write down a prayer about friends, the family or something other.
Corrected entry: After Bruce's car gets vandalised by the thugs, they manage to crack his drivers window. This wouldn't be possible, its tempered glass which means that it would shatter into little bits, its a safety feature.
Correction: In many older cars windows could be broken like on Bruces car, They used to do them like that to keep them from breaking apart like tempered glass. So it could be that his car was built before tempered glass.
Corrected entry: When Bruce enters the diner shortly after being told he had God's powers, the waitress asks if he would like some soup - the special of the day. A few seconds later in the background there is a chalk board stating the special of the day is fish and chips.
Corrected entry: After Bruce locks the camera van, when he says, "I guess every dog has his day," the small camera he's holding doesn't have the "scope" out. When he turns to the boy, the scope is out again. (The scope is the thing he blows into.)
Correction: You can clearly see Bruce unfold the "scope" before he turns to the boy.
Corrected entry: In the scene where Bruce and Jennifer are sitting in the car at the blood drive, Bruce's watch reads: 9:05. Afterwards, when he arrives at the office, the wall clock reads: 8:35. Either the clock is going backwards or it took him 11 hours to reach the office. (00:07:35 - 00:09:10)
Correction: Or the clock or watch were not changed during the last daylight savings time change. Not necessarily a movie mistake, as it can easily be explained by a clock not being changed for daylight savings time. There was a clock at a place I used to work that was wrong for six months of the year because no one could reach the clock to change the time to daylight savings time.
Corrected entry: How could God have made Bruce come to him on the 7th at 7 if he can't mess with free will?
Correction: It's never said that God can't mess with free will, just that he won't, and that he won't give Bruce the power to do so either. Anyway, he doesn't need to mess with free will. He could set a chain of events in motion that culminated in that, events that are so seemingly irrelevant that it wouldn't be noticed by us. After all, he IS God.
Corrected entry: In the scene at the Maid of the Mist, Ally Loman tells Bruce that the Maid of the mist has been around for 156 years. Then Irene Dansfield is introduced as her mother having ridden on the maiden voyage. Her mother must have had her when she was about 80 to make that possible.
Correction: The boat tour of the Niagara Falls was 156 years old at the time the movie came out, yes, but in this time, ALL the different boats have been named "Maid of the Mist", even when new boats replaced older models. So the tour of the river past the falls is 156 years old, but the actual boat Bruce and Irene are on is younger than that. Most likely, it is the (currently running) "Maid of the Mist" I or II, who was put into service in 1955 and 1956, respectively, and Irene's mother should have had no problems catching one of THOSE maiden voyages.
Corrected entry: Bruce is told that he has to wear a hairnet when interviewing the Kowalskis (bakery owners), but he is interviewing them from the front of the checkout counter - the same place customers pay for their food. Either all customers are made to wear hairnets when purchasing from the bakery (absurd), or Bruce should not have had to wear a hairnet at all.
Correction: While watching the deleted scenes on the DVD, it has Bruce actually inside the baking part of the store where he's trying to put together some sort of snack. Since he was originally going to go inside and help put together something in the bakery, it would make sense to have him wear a hairnet before the camera starts rolling.
Corrected entry: If you look at the scene where Bruce is answering the prayers on the computer frame by frame, it is actually the same 5 or 6 prayers used over and over.
Correction: Nothing unusual about that. Many prayers follow a set script - the Novena to St Jude and the Ave Maria are two examples. Since we know that most people are praying for the same thing (a lottery win) it follows that their prayers would be much the same anyway.
Corrected entry: When we hear the thugs "keying" the word hero onto Bruce's car, the sound effect is not long enough. Are we really supposed to think that you can key a word onto a car with just three scrapes? (00:17:45)
Correction: There are more than three scrapes, some of which are quiet.
Corrected entry: When Bruce gets fired from his job, they throw him out along with a box full of his personal items. The box lands on its side. When the camera angle changes the box is now placed between his legs and everything is back in the box. (00:16:50)
Correction: The box actually lands in between Bruce's legs. It just lands a bit crooked. In the next shot, its perfectly straight but that is possible to have happened in between the shots.
Corrected entry: During the chili cook-off where Bruce is dressed as Mark Twain, a meteor strikes. He immediately starts running. At first his mustache is attached properly but seconds later it is half off. It's obvious that when he turns his back to the camera he raises his hand to pull it off.
Correction: I don't see why this is a mistake. More than likely the moustache was annoying him, and since he would no longer be covering the chili cookoff, he decides to pull the thing off.
Corrected entry: The live story Bruce does, is about the Maid of the Mist boat at Niagara Falls. However, there are multiple references to this being in NY state. The Maid of the Mist is a Canadian boat and can only be boarded on the Canadian side which it was in the film. The view of the falls that is initially shown is the really wide view of the falls, the Canadian side.
Correction: www.maidofthemist.com says there are 2 boarding docks - one in Canada, the other in the US.
Corrected entry: When Bruce is surrendering to God, he is kneeling. However, when Bruce is almost hit by the truck, he is standing.
Correction: In the scene right before he is hit by the truck, it's a close-up. Therefore, you couldn't see his legs - how would anyone know if he was standing or kneeling?
Corrected entry: When Bruce is talking to God on Mount Everest, it seems to be snowing, even though they are standing above the clouds; none are visible above them.
Correction: You could tell there was wind in the shot, so snow could be blowing from the other mountains.
Corrected entry: In the Spanish version, at the end of the movie, when we discovered that the old poor man is God, Armageddon has been translated as Harmageddon with "H" whereas in Spanish, it is written as in English (without "H"). (01:28:50)
Correction: This is probably going along with the theme that the doomsayer misspells all his signs.
Corrected entry: In the scene where Bruce is getting Evan fired, right after Evan says "And my tiny little nipples went to France.", both cameramen lean inwards to stare at Evan, and we can see the text on the teleprompters. First, the text on both teleprompters is the same. Bruce wasn't trying to get Susan and Evan fired, just Evan. Also, the text on the left teleprompter - the one Evan was reading from - says "little tiny nipples" instead of "tiny little nipples" (this text on the other teleprompter is out of the shot). (00:53:55)
Correction: The anchors don't read the same news twice, that section was meant for Evan.
Corrected entry: If you look on the front cover of the DVD (not sure if the VHS is the same) look at Jim Carrey' left hand - he only has four fingers.
Correction: Its only shows four fingers because of the angle of the camera. The finger is actually placed on the side of his body. You can try this by posing just like Jim Carrey is on the cover and looking at yourself in the mirror.
Correction: This is a vague coincidence between two movies, not trivia.
