Anger Management

Question: What movie was Jack Nicolson watching and laughing so hard about on the plane?

Quantom X

Question: Is there another version of the movie? Because when I saw it on TV some scenes were cut or changed. It wasn't to remove swearing or anything, it was completely random, for example they cut Dave asking Buddy if he can eat Fiddle Faddles, and they changed Chuck's line "That's a letter I'm writing to Geraldo Rivera" to "That's a letter I'm writing to my father." This version is the version they use on the website Subzin, a website for finding movie quotes. Can someone please explain this version? What it is, how it's different, where it's used, etc.

MikeH

Answer: It's really not uncommon for movies to remove bits and pieces when broadcast on TV. Movies aren't just cut for content, they're also cut for timing. (Ex. "Shanghai Knights" used to be absolutely butchered when shown on cable - there were entire scenes missing, which created glaring mistakes.) It's also not uncommon for TV versions or foreign releases to change or remove cultural references, or use alternate takes depending on the language used. Depending on where you live, it could very easily just be that the version you're seeing is one of these alternate versions that was then also trimmed down to fit a TV timeblock.

Question: When Dr. Buddy is in the control booth at Yankee Stadium, he's talking to a very old man who he's about to tell what message to put on the scoreboard. The way the film is cut, hanging on the old man for a few extra seconds makes me believe he's someone special in real life, but I saw the movie on a special movie channel promo weekend, and the end credits were squashed up to make room for cast interviews. Anyone know who this elderly gentleman might be?

Krista

Chosen answer: That would be the famous Bob Sheppard. He is the long time Yankee announcer. For more info: http://www.usatoday.com/sports/baseball/comment/sbcol15.htm.

Question: Does anyone know where I can find pictures of Meatball the husky cat, preferably in his red hoodie, eating the crab cakes?

Krista

Chosen answer: Links to pics and video can be found: here and here.

Chosen answer: There are a number of reasons actors are sometimes unlisted in the credits. If it's a surprise cameo appearance, then the name is withheld to keep that information from leaking out before the movie is released. Also, some actors appear in another actor's movie as a favor because they are friends. They may receive only a scale wage or even nothing at all. Being listed in the credits would involve more contractual negotiations, different salary, affect the film's marketing, etc. Being unlisted simplifies everything.

Question: Why did Linda think Dave had anger issues? During the incident on the plane, he remained calm and never raised his voice.

Answer: It's been a few years since I've seen this film, but if I recall correctly, the entire movie is revealed to have been a setup to make Dave learn about how he has to stand up for himself, since he's too nervous ands bottles up his emotions. She doesn't necessarily think he has "anger issues." She's just in on the whole scheme to teach David his lesson since she loves him and wants to help him.

Question: Is that stimulator thing that Jack Nicholson uses on his head when he comes out of the shower a real gadget that you can buy somewhere or was it just made for the movie? If you it is real does anyone know where I could buy one?

Rollin Garcia Jr

Chosen answer: It's called a Violet Wand, and MANY years ago they were claimed to be an electrical cure-all for any ailment (along with Coca Cola extending your life-span etc). These days they're used for other purposes, I am sure any decent Adult retailer can supply you with one. Probably get one on ebay.

Question: Adrian Ricard is credited as Buddy's mother Rose Rydell. How come she doesn't appear in the movie? Has she been cut out of the one-and-half-hour DVD version?

NancyFelix

Chosen answer: Yes, there is a deleted scene where Adam, and Jack visit her in the hospital. I'd also like to say that on the DVD, there is a section with all the deleted scenes from the movie, including the bizarre visit to his whacko mom.

Revealing mistake: When Jack and Adam are in bed together, after Jack's "flatulent" moment, Adam tries to keep from laughing while answering Jack's question. The blanket covering Adam's face is obviously covering up an hysterical set moment.

Lou: So my boss, he was talking to me about how many sick days I've taken. And I was like, you know 'Don't go there, ' you know. But he kept on about wanting to see some kind of a doctor's note or something. And I said 'Look, I'm seriously serious. You don't want to go there. He kept talking and talking and being such a nag, and I just blacked out. I blacked out. And I woke up, and I was standing over him and I was screaming "I told you not to go there! I told you not to go there!"

Trivia: Meatball the husky cat isn't really husky; he was just wearing a fat suit. The filming crew had to keep fans constantly blowing so he didn't get too hot.
