Continuity mistake: In the scene where Violet first sings at Coyote Ugly, she in one shot, points at the crowd. Next shot, she does this again, in less than a second. Between shots she doesn't lift her hand or arm from its position, but simply points, then points again. (00:50:45)
Continuity mistake: When Violet and her boyfriend are getting intimate around all those celebrity cardboard stand-ups her bra strap is down by her elbow. Then the camera cuts in closer and the strap is back up on her shoulder. (00:56:45)
Continuity mistake: In the scene with the cardboard cutouts, one of them (I think it is Faith Hill) gets knocked over. Later, when Violet is playing the keyboard, it is standing up again. (00:56:50)
Revealing mistake: In the scene where Violet sings for Kevin for the first time, he starts to switch the lights off. Notice when he has turned off the lamps, the room is still very bright, but when he blows the candle out, the room is suddenly totally dark. That single candle could not possibly have lit-up the room and the characters the way it did, after the electrical light was switched off. (00:58:20)
Continuity mistake: In the scene where Violet and Kevin are in the CD shop and Kevin is asking Violet to play at his friends club, Violet is wearing a tan and blue necklace and then when the camera takes a shot of Kevin and then goes back to Violet, her necklace has been flipped over and then again when Violet embraces Kevin, her necklace has been flipped around again. Continuity mistake: When the 4 Coyote's are dancing on the bar and pouring water on themselves, in one scene you see Tyra's shirt is totally, completely wet, but in the next, it is dry on the side. (01:03:00)
Continuity mistake: In the scene at the bar when Rachel is trying to get all the females to give her their bras, at first she is on the bar. In the next shot she is behind the bar taking money. The next shot she is on the bar again. She goes from being on the bar to being behind the bar 4 or 5 times in that scene. (01:05:45)
Audio problem: When Violet is trying to get into the apartment because the phone is ringing, she runs in, picks up the phone and says "hello Kevin", but her mouth never moves. (01:16:55)
Factual error: In the scene where Violet gets her tapes back outside her apartment, she looks at an envelope with HER name as the sending address and the company as the return address. This is possible, however, the envelope would not be stamped "unsolicited mail" if it was re-packaged by the company. An unsolicited stamp would be there, like all the other envelopes, if it was being returned to her in the original envelope, with her name as the RETURN address, instead of the sending address. Continuity mistake: Violet drives through the toll booth on her way to sing her song. Then she says that she couldn't do it and made a big U turn. The toll booth wasn't that far behind her but it seemed like she drove a mile and a half before she reached it. (01:27:10)
Continuity mistake: At the end, when Jersey is trying to sing her own song on stage, before Kevin turns off the lights her hair isn't curled but after the lights come back on her hair is curled. (01:29:25 - 01:30:10)
Continuity mistake: In one of the final scenes when Violet is performing at the 'Ballary Ballroom', just after Kevin has turned off the lights and Violet thinks 'Hey, They've all disappeared' and starts to sing, the first few words of the song are sung, but Violet's mouth doesn't move at all, until she suddenly decides to sing a few seconds later... from the beginning. Continuity mistake: When Violet (Jersey) is singing at the dome palace the microphone is in her left hand first, then the camera changes angles and it's in her right and very quickly changes to her left again. (01:30:10)
Continuity mistake: In the last scene when Violet says to Kevin "So what do you do when you realise all your dreams have come true?", Violet moves in to kiss Kevin and she gets really close and then the camera cuts away to a different view and it shows Violet taking a step towards Kevin from 2 - 3 feet away. (01:35:00)
Continuity mistake: During the sex scene Kevin takes off Violet's bra, but if you watch through the whole scene she has it on then off again a few times.
Continuity mistake: When Gloria is talking to Violet just after they have arrived in New York, when they are standing' outside the car, Violets hair is curly and a lot of it is flowing over the front of her shoulders. Whenever there is a shot from the back, her hair is not so curly and pushed behind her shoulders. It continues to do this throughout the scene.
Continuity mistake: When Violet is singing at the Bowery Ballroom, her position on the stage jumps from side to side between shots without her moving.
Continuity mistake: In the scene where Violet and Kevin are getting intimate, Violet starts taking Kevins jacket off. The jacket is only half way down but in the next shot his jacket is already off and she starts taking his shirt off.
Audio problem: When Violet is singing on her rooftop, her song sounds exactly like a studio-recording, with vocal-effects and all. How could this be when she isn't even singing into a microphone?
Continuity mistake: In the scene right after Violet and Kevin have just made love and he gives her the guitar, you can see the guitar strap is twisted on her shoulder. Then the shot pulls back and the strap is lying flat. Next close-up shot and the strap is twisted again.
