Corrected entry: At several points you can see a team called "England" on the scoreboard in Jamaica. England does not compete in the Olympics or Winter Olympics as an individual nation, but as part of "Great Britain" including Scotland, Wales and N. Ireland.

David Mercier

Correction: That scoreboard was drawn and being 'supervised' by a load of very young kids from Jamaica. It is their mistake if they don't know the difference between England and Great Britain, not the movie's.

Correction: There was a similar correction about the USSR being referred to as Russia. Like those terms, England and the UK were commonly used interchangeably.

Continuity mistake: When the bobsled team is getting their act together in Calgary, there's a scene of them pushing off with an unpainted bobsled. In the shots of the feet of the guys pushing at the back of the sled, you can see that the lower back of the sled is painted black with green stripes, the colours that they paint the sled in a scene a few minutes later.

Trivia: When Derice is applying for loans at different banks, the wall behind each bank manager is always the same wall! The plants and decorations are different, but it's the identical wall.

Question: Does anyone know a website that tells the full, true story of the Jamaican bobsled team? I liked to get a look at all the differences between the film and what actually happened. I tried to search for it on Google, but all I am coming up with is things about the movie, not the actual event.

Answer: The events depicted in Cool Runnings of the improbable Jamaican bobsled team were actually quite accurate, according to this page http://www.factmonster.com/spot/02olcrunnings.html.
