Continuity mistake: While Scott and Tom are working on the boat's engine, and then while Dianne is with Scott, there's a boat near them with registration number "F 0258 ML" at its side. Continuity mistake: Near the end of the race, Scott is wearing gloves as he gets Rawhide's speed up to match JJ's Scarlet Lady. When the announcer says, "Remember, that's the hull that split apart last year under even less strain," in the shots of Rawhide's hull as it's porpoising, we can see the driver is not wearing gloves, and the windshield differs as well. Continuity mistake: During the Orange Bowl race, "Tom Wilson," aka Scott, is the driver of Rawhide, number 99, and he's wearing a long-sleeved red jacket. However, when the announcer says, "There goes the Rawhide, Tom Wilson is really standing on it," in the long shot of Rawhide, number 99, the driver is wearing a short-sleeved red shirt (it's not JJ, who is driving Scarlet Lady, number D3). Continuity mistake: At the end, when Dianne's "taxi" shows up, Scott and Dianne go for a drive in Scott's car. The rearview mirror is gone in their close-ups, but it's back in its proper place mounted between the windshields in wide shots. (01:35:35)
Continuity mistake: When Scott tells Dianne the truth about everything, Dianne's wearing white opaque nail polish on her long manicured fingernails, but when Scott gives Dianne his driver license, in the close-up the fingernails are shorter and have clear nail polish. (01:36:20 - 01:38:05)
Continuity mistake: When Dianne and Scott (as Tom, the water-ski instructor) head out on the second water skiing session, in the long shots of the boat, its windshield's center walk-through is open, but in the close-ups of Scott, the windshield's center walk-through is closed, then it continues to go back and forth. Continuity mistake: When Scott pulls into the gas station in beginning of movie the sign reads Heyward Oil but at the end of the movie when we see his drivers license it reads Scott Hayward.
Continuity mistake: Elvis is water skiing with Shelley Fabares, who has long hair in her closeups; which then inter-cut with distance shots of 'her' with short hair.
