The Hudsucker Proxy

Set in the 1940's, Norville, a simple-minded low-level employee at Hudsucker Industries is promoted to power by an unscrupulous board of directors. He surprises them by coming up with the idea for the hula hoop and enjoys his fifteen minutes of fame as well as the attentions of Amy Archer, a woman reporter undercover as his secretary. Things turn sour, though, as Norville changes and becomes tarnished by power and less appealing to the public.

Continuity mistake: After Norville is punched by the Finnish stockholder, Amy walks in to see Norville holding an ice pack over a red mark on the side of his head. Part way through the scene, the red mark is gone.
