Continuity mistake: In the scene where Harry, Ron, and Hermione are drinking the Polyjuice Potion, Harry leans toward the mirror and starts to gag or something. You can clearly see his shirt is half-unbuttoned. Then they cut away to another shot farther back. Then they cut back to him, and his shirt is buttoned up, nice and neat. (01:20:20)
Visible crew/equipment: While chasing the Snitch, Malfoy says, "You'll never catch me, Potter." In the following wide shot from the side, the seat support under Tom Felton's left thigh is visible, as he was filmed sitting upright for this particular shot. In the following front shot of both together, as Harry passes Malfoy, the seats that are attached to the broomsticks, to add a bit of comfort for Dan Radcliffe and Tom Felton, are visible. (00:56:00)
Visible crew/equipment: Just arriving at Diagon Alley Hagrid says, "I was looking for Flesh-Eating Slug Repellent. They're ruining all the school cabbages." In the next shot Hermione exits the shop and runs towards Harry. Continuity mistake: As Ron's luggage cart/trolley slams into Harry's, Ron's trunk is visible. As Ron begins to flip over in the overhead shot, the trunk has five strips of brown trim - two on the edges and three in the middle. When Harry and Ron moan and get up, Ron's trunk now has four strips of brown trim - two on the edges and two in the middle. (00:22:50)
Continuity mistake: In the scene where Lockhart is attempting to teach students how to cast charms for disarmarment, Professor Snape casts his charms against Lockhart. Lockhart goes flying through the air, wand in hand. The movie then cuts to a shot where Lockharts wand goes flying through the air out of his hands, then cuts back to a shot from his left shoulder where he lands wand in hand. Movie then cuts back to his front left, and he gets up without wand in hand. (01:05:42)
Continuity mistake: When Harry falls out of the car as he and Ron are flying above the train, his hand misses the door handle completely and he should have fallen clear to the bottom of the gorge. However, in the next shot and after, he is hanging onto the handle quite firmly.
Revealing mistake: When Ron is on all fours beginning to cough up slugs, Harry says "Let's take him to Hagrid's". Hermione mouths the lines with him. (00:39:43)

Continuity mistake: When Harry and Ron run into the wall in the train station, you can see the owl's cage break open and topple sideways, but in the next shots, the cage is closed and standing up. (00:22:50)
Continuity mistake: When Ron, Harry and Hermione drink the polyjuice potion, they all drop their glasses, smashing them onto the floor and presumably making a big mess. However, in the high angle shot looking down at Harry, there is no sign of broken glass or any potion splattered anywhere. (01:20:10)
Visible crew/equipment: Before the car spits out Harry and Ron, when Ron's car door opens as the seat slides out, the black steel bar that his feet rest on is visible under his right foot. Then, when Harry's seat slides out to throw Hedwig out, as the cage flies out the same foot bars are seen by Ron's seat, near the door, in the background. The bars are gone when the seat slides out to toss Scabbers. (00:28:05)
Revealing mistake: During the Quidditch match, just after the close-ups of Snape and Lucius Malfoy, there is a shot of Harry flying towards the camera, coming to stop, with Draco Malfoy flying in beside him and in this shot the goal posts cast a shadow on the sand. Malfoy remarks, "All right there, Scarhead?" and Harry looks down below at the approaching Bludger. Now in this shot, not only do the goal posts have a completely different shadow, there are no hoops at the top of the poles' shadows (while the angle might make them hard to spot, putting everything in a line, the shadows should at least thicken at the top where the hoops are). Visible crew/equipment: When Ginny becomes conscious after Harry stabs the book with the fang, as the camera pans back, a semi-clear reflection of an overhead stage light is visible in the ink. (02:16:05)
Revealing mistake: In the scene where the students are in Professor Lockhart's Defence Against the Dark Arts lesson you see that when Professor Lockhart lets out the Cornish Pixies, two of the pixies pull Neville Longbottom up by his ears and hang him on a chandelier. Because the pixies were computer-animated, they had to put clips behind Neville Longbottom's ears to make it look like he was being lifted up by the pixies. When he was dropped onto the chandelier by the pixies, you see his ears are still in a stretched position where the clips are. (00:37:00)
Visible crew/equipment: After the Whomping Willow adventure, when the car tosses Scabbers out, in this shot there is a very long METAL BAR attached under the dashboard to the right of the steering column. This metal bar is not in any other shots. (00:28:15)
Continuity mistake: When Harry, Dumbledore, and Lucius Malfoy are in Dumbledore's office and Harry says he will be around to save the day, his face is clean. Later, when Harry gives Malfoy Tom Riddle's diary, his face is as grimy as it was in the Chamber. (02:23:25 - 02:24:25)
Visible crew/equipment: Ron and Harry discuss the Basilisk's victims and, speaking of Mrs. Norris, Harry says, "There was water on the floor that night. She only saw the Basilisk's reflection." Just before Harry reads aloud from the paper again, the crew's gas torch canister with regulator and tip, that sits in a bucket beside another bucket, leans against the wall. Continuity mistake: In the shot where Dobby takes Harry's letters from his robe and tells him about why he hid them he is standing in front of the dresser, you can see that the drawers in the dresser are neatly closed (with the exception of the bottom one, which is only slightly open). However, in the next shot when Dobby runs out the door with Harry chasing after him you see the dresser again, and this time all the drawers are slightly open and uneven. (00:06:33)
Continuity mistake: In Moaning Myrtle's bathroom, the mirrors don't reflect at all, they're very dirty. But when Harry changes into Goyle, his face is clearly reflected in one of the mirrors. (01:20:20)
Continuity mistake: In the scene where Harry slides out from the fireplace into this dark shop, he quickly exits through the front door. Just before he walks out, look closely. The sidewalk outside is bright and sunny, not like the dark and dingy surroundings that he walks out to. (00:16:20)
