Factual error: During the scene where the platoon is stopped by the large lake on their 15 mile hike Sgt. Toomey says, "You must have been in the first World War." WWI and WWII were not referred to that way until years later.

Factual error: In the mess hall scene in the beginning of the movie, Gerome engages with Joseph W. Gerome says: "You forgot to eat the aluminum tray!" Shortly thereafter, you can tell as they are stacking the trays, they are indeed aluminum. There was a metal shortage during WWII, the trays were stainless steel back then. Just like the pennies.
