Continuity mistake: During the "Girls of Rock N Roll" part, at one point, Jeanette and Eleanore do a ballet twirl together as they say, "Yeah we're the girls of rock and roll-la!" If you look, Jeanette's hair flickers from a redish brown color, to a duller brown right after they say "roll-la" dramatically. Not only does it not have anything to do with the spot light, but it's quite noticeable.

Alvin and Brittany, leaders of the Chipmunks and Chipettes respectively, are arguing about who is the better performer. Two eccentric billionaires, Claudia and Klaus Furschtein, overhear the argument and propose a friendly competition for the groups. They will each travel around the world in hot air balloons, collecting various dolls dressed in international costumes. The winners will receive $100,000 each.
The next day, with the help of Chipmunks' manager, Dave Seville, and Miss Miller, the Chipettes' caretaker, the teams take off in their hot air balloons. The Chipmunks are accompanied by Dave, and the Chipettes are joined by Miss Miller. Unbeknownst to them, Claudia has secretly installed a tiny video camera in each group's hot air balloon to keep tabs on their progress.
Meanwhile, the Furschtein's associate, Doctor Frankenstein Jr, has been developing life-like animatronic toy duplicates of the Chipmunks and Chipettes. They plan to replace the kidnapped Chipmunks and Chipettes with these duplicates, thus ensuring a fraudulent victory for the Furschtein's team.
As the two groups undertake their journey, they face numerous obstacles, including furious sandstorms, crossing treacherous terrain, and narrowly escaping dangerous situations. The Chipmunks and Chipettes collect the dolls from various countries, with each group genuinely enjoying the sights and experiencing different cultures.
Back at the Furschtein mansion, the duplicates are activated and successfully fool Dave and Miss Miller. However, the real Chipmunks and Chipettes, having completed their race, return to see their duplicates and realise the deception. Alvin and Brittany hatch a plan to swap the dolls they collected with the duplicates in order to expose the Furschtein's fraud.
With the swapped dolls in hand, the Chipmunks and Chipettes perform a final concert at the Sydney Opera House in Australia. The audience is awestruck by the life-like movements of the duplicates, who turn out to be quite the talented performers. Throughout the concert, the Chipmunks and Chipettes subtly switch the duplicated dolls with the real ones, ultimately foiling the Furschtein's scheme.
Consequently, Alvin, Brittany, Simon, Jeanette, Theodore, and Eleanor also perform, revealing their true identities and reuniting with Dave and Miss Miller. The audience, recognizing their talent and genuineness, applauds them.
As the movie concludes, the Chipmunks and Chipettes, with their prize money, generously use it to help children in need around the world. They perform another concert, donating all the proceeds to charity before embracing their own well-deserved fame and success.
Brittany Miller: I don't care how important he is, how powerful he is, how rich he is... by the way, how rich is he?
