Continuity mistake: Tony Montana has a heart tattoo on his right hand between his thumb and index finger. The heart rotates 180° from when it's first seen to later in the movie. (00:05:45 - 01:41:50)

Continuity mistake: When Tony is in the refugee camp and he stabs the communist at the doorway, the camera focuses on the Cuban's face where he is standing upright staring straight ahead. The camera then changes to a rear view and the Cuban is suddenly in a hunched over position making for an awkward transition. (00:11:00)

Revealing mistake: During the riot at Freedomtown, the camera pans over to Rebenga exiting the telephone booth. As soon as he leaves the phone falls down inside the booth, but there are no wires attached to the back of the phone. (00:11:25)

BillyBlake

Continuity mistake: When Manny is standing in the tent with the knife, the scenes cut back and forth between him with no sweat on his shirt and the clasp on his necklace in the front to a sweaty shirt and the clasp to his necklace in the back. (00:12:10)

Continuity mistake: When Tony walks into the Colombians' motel, he says hello to Marta. Watch Marta's arm. It changes positions from being in front of her on the pillow to on her hip depending on a shot from behind her and a shot from in front of her. (00:21:30)

Visible crew/equipment: When the first deal goes wrong and the man with the chainsaw jumps out the window you can clearly see him land on a grey crash mat because it lifts up at the corners. (00:27:55)

Continuity mistake: In the scene where they are having dinner at the Babylon Club, the waiter brings them champagne and when they all raise their glasses to toast, Tony has a cigar in his mouth. The camera cuts away and then cuts back to Tony about to take a drink of champagne and the cigar is now gone. There was not enough time to take out the cigar. A second later the cigar is back. (00:37:10)

Melissa

Continuity mistake: Tony and Omar Suarez go down to Bolivia to meet with Mr. Sosa. After Omar has an accident from the chopper, the binoculars are put down on the table on end. Next shot, they lay flat. Next shot, on end again. And so on through out the scene. (01:07:20)

Continuity mistake: Tony tells Nick to call Lopez at exactly 3:00. The scene goes on with Lopez and Bernstein dying when they ask Ernie if he wants a job. The clock says 3:03 but, from the time the call was made at 3am to the next time we see the clock next to Ernie, 5 min and 25 sec have passed. (01:33:00 - 01:40:00)

Continuity mistake: In the scene where Tony has shot Mel and his body is on the floor, look quickly and you can see Mel's hands quickly move when he is supposed to be dead. (01:40:55)

Talespin798

Continuity mistake: In the scene where Tony is watching the blimp go by with the words "The world is yours", if you look at his reflection in the glass he has a cigarette in his mouth. He reaches up to remove it and as the camera changes he is putting it up to his mouth. (01:43:00)

Continuity mistake: When Tony is supposed to do the assassination for Sosa they are following the man and his family in a car. There are two beer cans and chinese food containers on the dashboard. When it shows Tony and the rest of the people in the car one of the cans is smashed. When it shows the view of the car in front of them it isn't smashed. The can changes from shot to shot. (02:18:00)

Continuity mistake: When Tony shoots Manny after he finds out that he has been with Gina, she runs to hold his bloody body, in turn getting blood on her robe. A few scenes later, when Gina comes into Tony's office, wearing the same robe, it is perfectly clean and there is no sign of any blood. (02:27:50 - 02:30:00)

Suggested correction: Actually, blood is visible on her robe in the close up shots of her. A spot can be seen on the edge of her robe right at chest level.

Matdan97

Correct, but she gets blood all over both sleeves. That blood is gone. Other than the spot you mentioned, the robe is pretty much immaculate.

Continuity mistake: When Tony's car returns after killing Manny, it enters the compound gate. Men are climbing the wall from the inside, leaving to the outside wall. Either the car is going the wrong way, or the assassins are. The gate opens away with the security camera facing the gate. So it appears Tony is leaving while men are entering. Maybe this scene was meant for when Tony left to find his sister? But it happens after. (02:29:08)

Continuity mistake: In the final scene where Tony is killed, he is shot, then falls through a banister. When he first falls through the banister both halves are pushed outwards. The next shot is from below looking upwards and shows one half of the banister coming outwards and the other going inwards. Then it goes back to the shot from above and both halves are back outwards. (02:36:30)

Continuity mistake: When Tony is in the Babylon Club watching the performer dressed in a clown suit, the assassins shoot everyone, including the clown. When the clown is first shot, his hat falls to the ground (but the camera cuts away). After a few seconds later, we see the clown again falling, but his hat is back on top of his head.

Visible crew/equipment: Just before Tony gets shot at in the Babylon Club, there is a close up of his face. In the mirror behind him, you can see director Brian De Palma's head.

Continuity mistake: In the scene at the beach/pool where Manny approaches the blonde in the blue bikini, if you watch the area of the pool behind where the blonde is seated on a lounge chair, you will see several people in the pool. Immediately after Manny sticks his tongue out at her and the camera pans back to her as she slaps him, if you look at the same area of the pool, there is absolutely no one there anymore. This was only a matter of seconds after seeing everyone there.

Other mistake: In the scene that begins with "Three Months Later" where Tony and Manny are sitting at the table near the beach watching the girls in bikinis walk by, Manny is attempting to explain to Tony how to pick up women by explaining what "women in this country know and understand". After Manny sticks his tongue out to demonstrate and Tony asks Manny "what the f*ck was that, Mayne?", if you watch Al Pacino's lips as Steven Bauer is talking, you can see Al's lips moving in unison to whatever Steven is saying.

Visible crew/equipment: In the scene where Tony goes back to his mother's house to visit her and Gina, watch the bottom right corner of the screen, on one of the kitchen appliances. You will see a shadow moving through the area, but no-one in the scene is moving at this speed or direction.

Tony Montana: I kill a communist for fun, but for a green card, I gonna carve him up real nice.

Trivia: In the final scene when Tony's house is being raided, there is a moment where he attempts to grab a gun and then lets go immediately. What happened was that the gun was so hot, it actually burnt Al Pacino's (Tony) hand and he was unable to perform for about a week or two. That allowed director Brian DePalma to shoot the scenes of the shooters moving throughout the house.

Question: Was the double cross with the chainsaw scene a set up by F.Murray Abraham? Or was it a genuine deal and did he just suspect it may be dangerous, and sent Tony because he annoyed him?

The_Iceman

Answer: It's unlikely a set up. Tony is supplied with money and guns to defend himself. If this was a setup, the toad would've had more details. He would've known Tony had backup with guns and they would've waited to ambush them. Also makes no sense for Omar to put himself at risk without a legitimate opportunity to make cash. Frank knew about the deal as he supplied the buy money. Omar seemed loyal to Frank. Why would he send some low level thugs to be set up losing his boss' money in the process? All he would do is lose trust and be suspected.

Omar was an informant. He wasn't loyal to anyone. Omar's driver is the one that suggested to send Tony to the Colombians. And I think Omar knew the Colombians were shady, and that's why he sent Tony. It was, in a sense, a setup.

Chosen answer: While it is never really mentioned I think it is a safe bet that it was a double cross. F. Murray Abraham was seen later in the film to be an informant and killed because of it.

oddy knocky

It wasn't a double cross, as it was the driver of the car that suggested/whispered it to Omar the first time Omar met Tony and Manny outside the restaurant they were working at.
