Factual error: When Clint Eastwood first goes to the barber shop, the barber very deliberately sharpens his razor the wrong way, flipping the blade with its sharp edge against the strop - this would instantly dull the blade. No real barber would make this mistake, but it's a common movie error.
Continuity mistake: In the scene where Eastwood is watching "the city of Lago volunteers" training,he is drinking a beer. The first time he lifts the glass to drink, it is about half empty. After he says something to the man with the knife, he lifts the glass for another drink and it is nearly full.
Continuity mistake: As Stranger [Eastwood] is bathing, Cali Traverse enters, in a rage, and pulls a gun. As she screams and fires at him, her open cleavage appears to change between partial to almost none, during the action shots.
Revealing mistake: When Eastwood shoots off a portion of the bad guys ear, the resulting portion of the ear is very fake looking.
Factual error: At the start, the road the drifter rides on seems to have wide tyre tracks in it.
Continuity mistake: In the beginning when Eastwood is getting a shave, the amount of shaving cream on his face changes from shot to shot. Especially just before he shoots the three bad guys.
Revealing mistake: Before Eastwood shoots the tree dummies on the cart, the reflection of the window shows a clear blue sky. When the camera moves in front of the window, a black curtains' been placed to avoid the crew from being reflected. The curtain drifts all the time showing a tiny bit of sky, but for a brief moment you can see someone closing the curtain.
Continuity mistake: Early in the bar scene, the drifter's bottle goes from his left to his right on the bar.
Deliberate mistake: When Clint Eastwood rides into town the first time, one of the buildings has tarpaper on the outside and doesn't seem to be from the same era. This is the first and last time that building is in any shots.
Continuity mistake: The three bad guys should arrive on the two surviving horses. Instead, they ride three.
Suggested correction: The third horse belonged to Morg Allen. They took his horse after he was killed.
