Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives

Continuity mistake: As Hawes walks down the stairs he begins to lose control of the shovels as one gets caught up in a vine on the side of the steps and as they twist away in his hands he nearly drops them. He stops on the 3rd step from the bottom to adjust the shovels. In the next shot he's on the 4th step and both shovels are stacked neatly on his shoulder as he walks down the steps without a problem. Continuity mistake: The hands that open the coffin in the closeups are not Thom Mathews'. The older looking hands belong to the director Tom McLoughlin. The insert shots of the hands opening the coffin are not filmed in the same hole as the other scenes. Tommy only dug down enough to open the coffin lid. This hole is deeper on the side you can see the entire side of the coffin that is still buried in other shots. Tom McLoughlin is standing beside the coffin while Thom Mathews is bending over above it to the side. (00:03:58)

Continuity mistake: When the group of kids enter the police station, Cort has his headphones around his neck, then a few shots later, he takes them off his ears. (00:05:10)

Continuity mistake: When Tommy grabs the fence post and goes to stab Jason he starts the stab on ground level the next shot he is actually down in the coffin. The scenes are cut together very well - it almost appears like he jumped in the casket while spearing Jason. (00:05:20)

Continuity mistake: When Tommy picks up the mask before throwing it into Jason's grave he holds the mask with one hand only. But when it cuts to him throwing it, he is holding the mask with both hands. (00:05:40)

Continuity mistake: When Tommy throws Jason's mask in his grave, when Jason wakes up from the lightning bolt. Jason picks his mask up off the ground yet Tommy threw it in his grave. (00:05:40 - 00:08:10)

Continuity mistake: When Tommy holds the mask in both hands before he throws it in the coffin, the strap on the right side of the mask is not connected to the other two straps. They are connected minutes later when Jason puts on the mask. (00:05:59)

Continuity mistake: In the beginning, when Tommy dig up Jason's grave, they have a close up of Jason's eyes, and they are brown. But, at the end when Megan cuts his neck with the propeller, his eyes are blue. Then, they are brown again for the last shot of Jason. (00:06:10 - 01:17:55)

Continuity mistake: In the film Tommy pulls the rod out of Jason and you see Tommy remove his right hand glove. In the next shot, Tommy is taking off the right glove again. (00:07:00)

Continuity mistake: When Hawes runs away he can be seen in the background tripping and falling over. He is getting back up and racing away to the left toward the truck. The fall may not be a mistake but at no point is he shown coming back. A few shots later Hawes appears out of nowhere behind Jason to the right and attacks with the shovel. (00:07:25)

Continuity mistake: Tommy's got Jason's mask with the crack in it but the strap is fixed. Part 4 saw his sister cut the left strap in half, knocking it off Jason's face. (00:10:15)

Suggested correction: In Part 4 Jason's mask has snap on buttons connecting the straps to the mask. When Trish swings the machete at Jason she grazes the mask under the strap and it just unsnapped, it did not cut the strap. This is visible in the closeup of the mask on the ground where it falls. The real mistake here is the mask in this movie is different and does not use snap on buttons to attach the straps. The straps are attached with rivets that don't pop off.

Continuity mistake: When Lizbeth puts the car in reverse and backs up the shot from the exterior shows the car backing up but the next shot from the interior you can see out the window that the car is not moving. The following shot of the exterior you see the car come to a stop just before the edge. (00:12:58)

Continuity mistake: During the scene where Jason kills the couple in the volkswagen and again during the police chase it goes from night to day to night again. (00:13:00)

Continuity mistake: The tire tracks in the mud left by the VW go past where Jason is standing in the middle of the road even though Jason hasn't moved. The shots looking at the car from behind Jason show no tracks in the mud at all. (00:13:08)

Continuity mistake: The "spearhead" of the pole Jason is holding is in his right hand pointed into the sky. In the next shot where he goes to stab the tire the spearhead is in his left hand pointed down to ground. (00:13:30)

Continuity mistake: When Jason kills Lizabeth, the first shot shows Jason with his feet on either side of her head, but in the next shot, his feet are together and away from her head. (00:14:35)

Continuity mistake: Hawes' heart is missing from where it should be beside the grave. When Jason heart punched Hawes he dropped the heart as Hawes fell back into the grave. As Jason turns he can be heard stomping on the heart. The heart may be squashed but it should be there and the caretaker should have spotted it. The broken shovel and gas can are also nowhere to be seen. (00:17:58)

Continuity mistake: Sissy put 2 ketchup bottles and 1 mustard on the counter top. When she turns to listen to Megan she bumps one bottle knocking over both ketchup bottles. As Megan finishes her story she points to the arriving bus full of kids you can see both bottles are back upright and the second ketchup bottle has moved behind the mustard. (00:19:10 - 00:19:45)

Continuity mistake: The paint ballers are wearing safety googles which have two indirect vents on the top. These removable vents disappear one by one over the next few minutes. Larry is missing the vent over his right eye, then both vents. Then Katie is missing the vent over her left eye, then Stan is now missing the vent over his left eye and Katie is now missing both vents. (00:20:37)

Continuity mistake: When Jason holds up the severed arm and machete there is a small gap in the sleeve where you can see CJ Graham's skin and not Jason's rotted skin seen earlier. (00:22:29)

Other mistake: In the final scene of the movie, Megan starts a boat motor and uses the propeller to hit Jason in the face, who has been chained down underwater. But if Jason can only barely reach her foot from underwater, there's no way the boat propeller is underwater far enough to reach his face. (01:17:50)

Suggested correction: The boat was driven a good ways, it's not like they were shallow and then all of a sudden deep. They were deep for a little bit. I mean not so deep like the ocean, but it was a good enough ways for someone to drown. Megan is tall for a girl and Jason is a big guy and the propeller is right at his head/neck.

You are very much mistaken. The boat propeller is too high to reach Jason's face.

Allen Hawes: You just have to see that Jason's dead, right? Seeing his corpse ain't gonna stop your hallucinations.
Tommy: Seeing it won't, but destroying it will. Jason belongs in Hell - and I'm gonna see to it that he gets there.

Trivia: Director Tom McLoughlin revealed in a 2017 interview that he was approached at one point to write and direct the seventh installment of the series after "Jason Lives" proved popular. Knowing the studio wanted to make "Freddy VS Jason" at that point but couldn't due to legal rights, McLoughlin pitched another crossover idea - "Cheech and Chong Meet Jason", a farcical comedy starring the stoner comedy-duo in the vein of the old Universal "Abbot and Costello Meet..." films. The producer thought the film would do well with comedy audiences and was entertained by the idea, but ultimately decided it would alienate horror fans too much and it never moved forward.

Question: Who would have a tombstone made for Jason?

Answer: Someone who wanted to let people know that Jason was truly dead. That the crazed killer of Camp Crystal Lake would no longer be loose in the world.

Answer: Probably regulations so they wouldn't dig up that plot to bury someone else there.
