In order to get Carrey back for this film, director Jeff Fowler had a copy of the script made that was printed in actual 24 karat golden ink to show how serious he was about the movie and the character.
Trivia: Director Jeff Fowler, who directed all three "Sonic the Hedgehog" movies, actually worked on the game "Shadow the Hedgehog" as an animation director. Given his past with the character, he was excited and honoured to be the one who got to introduce Shadow on the big screen.
