Revealing mistake: Dave Bautista announces that he has arrived. There's a close-up of the kickstand, and you can actually see scratches on the asphalt from previous takes (spotted also by Rian Johnson himself in his video breakdown of the arrival scene for the Vanity Fair youtube channel). Continuity mistake: When Batista arrives on the pier, he asks "Who's that?" about Blanc. In the next shot Birdie is facing the opposite way and a passing car in the background disappears. (00:15:30)
Continuity mistake: The Efficient Man portrayed by Ethan Hawke tells the guests to remove the masks. Birdie Jay removed it already in the wider angle of the pier, but she removes it again in the next shot when he shoots her in the mouth. (00:16:20)
Audio problem: Blanc and Lionel are talking about Andi on the ship headed to the island. "In one legal move, he cut her out completely", Lionel says, but the second half of the phrase his chin (as you can tell by his conspicuous beard) is not moving. (00:18:45)
Continuity mistake: When Birdie hugs Miles on the beach, his shades are in a different position by the guitar headstock between shots. (00:19:50)
Character mistake: Miles is playing on the beach a tune that Birdie Jay recognizes instantly as Blackbird by the Beatles, and Miles flexes saying that it's the exact guitar Paul wrote it on. That'd be difficult though, since it's a right handed guitar, and McCartney plays left handed (albeit he can play right handed too). You could argue that this is one of the hints that Miles is not very smart. (00:20:00)
Continuity mistake: Duke mentions Benoit Blanc 's presence to Miles for the first time on the beach, and at the same time his girlfriend is walking away from the eccentric billionaire. The next shot does not properly follow; Dave Bautista 's hand is back on top of his hat, Whiskey and Ed Norton 's arn positions don't match. (00:20:45)
Continuity mistake: Speaking to Miles for the first time, Blanc foes for a handshake but Miles' sunglasses switch hands. And when Blanc sidesteps to let him face directly Andi, he lowers his arms, but they are up again in the next shot. And then, Edward Norton's right hand gives a thumbs up in the reaction shot, with the same arm he just lowered before. (00:20:55)
Continuity mistake: All the characters showed up for Miles on the beach by the 'Pisceshite' pier, and Duke asks "when's the murder mystery start?" In the reverse angle Peg holds the Luis Vuitton-bagged dress across her back in a different way, and the group with Birdie and Lionel is positioned differently to better fit the framing of the shot. Other mistake: When Benoit and Andi have their little chat on the beach by the pile of bags, they do it under a stealthy pretense. However, nobody can overhear them, and they have a good reason to exchange a couple of words, while they show later in the movie no fear of being eavesdropped on even in their room and in places like the bathroom or the gym who could very well be bugged or have cameras, as opposed to an open and deserted beach. In a flashback we even see them hanging out at the hotel together, exchanging information that reasonably they needed to sort out back in the States. (00:22:35 - 01:12:45)
Continuity mistake: The first time that Joseph Gordon-Levitt's "Dong" echoes in the estate, Kate Hudson's position changes entirely at the reaction shot. (00:23:15)
Continuity mistake: Miles tries to talk to Andi and eventually tells her he is glad to have her there, and touches her shoulder. When he approached her, you could see in the background Whiskey and Duke, with the girl gesticulating. Many seconds pass and Miles asks Blanc to have a word with him; the path appears clear, but in the wide shot that follows Whiskey and Duke are in front of them, and she is making the exact same gesture as before. Continuity mistake: Miles removes his hand from Andi's shoulder after her icy stare twice in two separate shots. (00:24:05)
Continuity mistake: When Birdie makes her way poolside she smiles at Lionel; in her slo-mo approach her left hand holds the foulard, but in the next shot she is holding the brim of her hat. (00:27:50)
Continuity mistake: The first time Jared Leto 's hard kombucha is mentioned, Blanc fetches a bottle from the scale model of Baby Blue. Notice Daniel Craig that begins to uncork it. Duke points saying "Iconic!", the angle changes, and now Benoit Blanc has yet to pick a bottle from the porsche-shaped cooler. (00:28:40)
Continuity mistake: After the small scene with Duke firing his gun in the pool, Birdie's assistant urges her to go talk to Miles. Kate Hudson's hand goes on/off the hat between shots several times in the part of the conversation before she looks at Whiskey and him. (00:29:40)
Other mistake: When Blanc points at the fax machine in the mansion, it is printing its journal. The dates shown are from September and October, while the movie takes place in May. (00:30:55)
Continuity mistake: As Blanc walks away from the fax the first time he sees it, Birdie Jay is sitting with her legs across Miles ' lap, bathed in sunlight. In the next shot they are in the shade. (00:31:00)
Continuity mistake: Andi slow-claps Miles ' speech about the disruptors. She gives her half-drunk bottle to Peg, who is holding it by the base, but in the next shot has one hand on its neck. (00:34:55)
Continuity mistake: Andi starts lashing out on the Disruptors; when says that everyone knows who financed Claire's campaign, Kathryn Hahn 's hands switch position on the laptop; her right hand is on top of the left and viceversa. (00:35:15)
