Other mistake: In the first shot of the movie we see Dorothy and Toto running home. Several shots later when we first meet Hunk, Zeke and Hickory we see the exact same background spot used again behind them. Dorothy was also running in the wrong direction. (00:03:05)
Other mistake: As Glinda walks over to meet Dorothy, the bridge is the same but the background behind her changes between shots. (00:21:30)
Other mistake: In the shot after the Wicked Witch throws fire down at them they all look up at her in the wrong direction. (00:46:25)
Other mistake: As they walk through the forest in the shot before Dorothy says, "I don't like this forest" there are some cool digital glitches in the lower left hand corner of the screen which look like a strand of blue Christmas lights blinking on and off. (Restored and re-mastered DVD version only). (00:48:00)
Other mistake: In the poppy field the tin man has hardly any of that artificial snow on him because the asbestos used didn't stick to the metal like real snow. (00:56:55)
Other mistake: When entering the Haunted Forest, the Scarecrow is carrying a pistol and a stick, the Lion has a bug sprayer and net, the Tin Man has a monkey wrench and his axe. But different scenes after that shows some items missing and then returning. I guess in the "Jitterbug" scene that was cut, they lost all those things but the axe. (01:13:15 - 01:16:00)
Other mistake: When the Wicked Witch is giving the orders to the Nikko, the Head Winged Monkey, it shows his troops flying away before he's even finished receiving his orders. (01:14:40)
Other mistake: In the close-up as the Wicked Witch pets him, Toto, who has been referred to as a "he" throughout the movie appears to be a she. In actuality, Toto is a female Cairn terrier. (01:16:05)
Other mistake: A shiny snap on the Lion's left foot can be seen gleaming in the stage lights as he says, "I hope my strength holds out" on the side of the mountain. (01:20:05)
Other mistake: The Witch's castle is shown twice, the first time is in the beginning of the scene when Dorothy is held in her room, and the second time is when Toto brings the three back to rescue her. Each time the painting is almost exact, even down to the lights in the windows of the castle. The only thing that changes is the walk way up to the castle, which is entirely different each time. (01:20:10)
Other mistake: As the Wizard is pulling his curtain closed, he says the famous, "Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain," in a loud, booming voice. But he's turned 180 degrees away from his microphone, which we see a second later needs to be right in front of his mouth to make the booming voice effect. (01:28:40)
Other mistake: Toto is listed in the end credits as being played by Toto, when she was actually played by a dog named Terry. A few years after the film was released, Terry's owner/trainer, Carl Spitz, changed the dog's name to Toto due to the popularity of the film, but the credit is wrong for the time.
Other mistake: When Dorothy's house is falling back to Kansas, just before it lands, there is about a 1 or 2 second shot of what looks like production notes written in blue ink.
Suggested correction: There are no production notes visible anywhere.
Other mistake: When the witch approaches Dorothy and Glinda, her legs are white, not green.
