Continuity mistake: When the group are in the diner and Garth notices his "dream girl" stacking plates of pie and cake in the display case, she can be seen placing a plate on an empty tray, then the camera returns to Garth. Moments later the camera is returned to his dream girl and the tray is again empty. (00:10:05)
Continuity mistake: When Benjamin is playing the video for Noah Vanderhoff in his office, Wayne says "...put that thing on your, on your melon," stuttering a bit. However, earlier in the movie during the "live show" he does not stutter. (00:02:10 - 00:16:50)
Continuity mistake: When Wayne arrives at the music video shoot and tries to convince Cassandra that he loves her, Benjamin holds the snake differently between shots. At first he's got the snake at waist level, but then all of a sudden it's curled up on his chest. (01:18:55)
Continuity mistake: When Wayne and Garth are driving to the Alice Cooper concert, you see Garth pulling out a string of candy. The length of the candy changes between shots. (00:57:00)
Continuity mistake: In the scene where Wayne and Cassandra are driving to the music store to buy the guitar, Cassandra crosses her legs in the car and you can see that they are bare. When they get to the shop, she is wearing pants.
Audio problem: At the loft party, while Cassandra is singing the song Touch Me there is a moment where Wayne turns to the camera and says "God, she's amazing." While Wayne is saying this the audio track plays an extra beat which throws the track out of sync just as Terry walks up to Wayne, causing Cassandra's mouth to not match the lyrics.
Audio problem: When Wayne plays the "May I help you?" riff on the black guitar to get the clerk's attention, he ends the riff by manipulating the whammy bar. However, rather than the "scooping" sound that comes from manipulating a whammy bar, the sound heard is actually trilling (rapidly alternating between two or more notes on the same string).
Revealing mistake: A jump cut is visible when Frankie Sharp starts receiving the show in his limo. Notice how his feet shift slightly when the image changes.
Factual error: When they are driving around listening to Bohemian Rhapsody in Garth's car they are supposedly in Aurora, IL but Cermak Plaza is in Berwyn, Satchel's is in Cicero and the White Castle is in Lyons. All these towns are an hour away from Aurora.
Continuity mistake: When Wayne and Cassandra are driving together, Wayne's hands are at the 10 and 2 positions on the steering wheel, visible over the dashboard. However, the views from the driver's view out the windshield do not show Wayne's hands on the wheel.
Continuity mistake: After Wayne is finished using the cue cards for Noah Vanderhoff's interview, they cut to commercial. Wayne grips the stack of cards with two hands initially, but when the shot changes to Terry saying, "We're at commercial," Wayne is only using his left hand. (01:07:50)
Continuity mistake: When Garth is holding the air ratchet gun, he's facing to the left. However every time the camera shot goes back to Wayne, Garth is in the background instantly facing the car. Then when it cuts back to Garth, he's turned 90 degrees again.
Deliberate mistake: When Wayne begins playing the "Excalibur" guitar, the clerk stops him and directs him to a "No Stairway to Heaven" sign. The problem is that the guitar riff Wayne started playing sounded nothing like "Stairway to Heaven" so the clerk had no reason to interrupt him. Evidently the intro to "Stairway" was actually played in the theatrical version of the film, but its exclusion in the home video release makes the scene rather dubious.
Continuity mistake: When Garth is playing with the drilling machine we see him hitting the car door above the door handle. When it cuts the drilling machine hits below the door handle. (00:20:20)
Continuity mistake: When Benjamin is talking to Wayne and Garth about giving Vanderhoff a spot on the show in the first scene. On the left side of the end of the table there is a tray of nachos with dip and different kinds of drinks, then in the next scene when Wayne talks to Garth about selling out the nachos with dip are on the right side of the table and the drinks are gone. (00:47:47)
Continuity mistake: During the first Wayne's World show in the movie they bring out a guy with a haircutting machine. The man sits down next to Garth with the hose in front of Garth. The camera angle changes and the hose is now behind Garth. (00:01:45)
Answer: You presumably haven't seen Terminator 2. The actor playing the cop is Robert Patrick, who played the shape-shifting T-1000 in that movie, who masqueraded as a policeman for most of the film. The T-1000's mission was to track down and terminate a boy - hence the "have you seen this boy" line that he says to Wayne.
