Continuity mistake: Whilst Kurt is walking with his teacher, just as the teacher says "The theme is Unity of the Working Class", they begin walking past a man leaning against a window who is reading a book. Continuity mistake: After Ellie has told Kurt that she is pregnant, just as Kurt finishes saying "You belong with me, I mean", Ellie is shown moving her hand toward his shoulder and then moves it toward his chest. When the camera changes angles, her hand is suddenly over his shoulder again and moves it down his chest a second time. (01:26:05)
Continuity mistake: When Kurt and Ellie are discussing how to tell her parents that she is pregnant, just as she says "It's not Mama I'm worried about", Kurt has his hand on his chest. When the shot cuts, his hand is on his stomach. (01:26:45)
Continuity mistake: Just after Carl has told Kurt about the medical story regarding Ellie and Carl says "Then I'd have to examine her immediately", the shot cuts to Ellie walking with her mother. Continuity mistake: When Kurt starts asking his friend "How much would you give me for the Wartburg?", he is holding his cigarette with one hand. The shot then cuts to an angle behind him where he is not shown moving his hands. When the shot cuts back, he is holding the cigarette with both hands. (01:44:45)
Continuity mistake: Just as Kurt's friend finishes telling him that girls have gone to bed with him because he is his assistant, when the camera is on Kurt, his hands are lowered. When the shot cuts to focus on the friend, his hand is suddenly raised and is suddenly smoking the cigarette he is holding. (01:45:30)
Continuity mistake: When Kurt's friend shows him the money hiding in his shoe, just as the friend asks "260" and Kurt says "Fine", the cigarette he is holding is not in his mouth and his hand is lowered. In the next shot, his hand is suddenly raised so that he can put the cigarette in his mouth. (01:46:10)
Continuity mistake: When Kurt and Ellie begin walking up to the train station entrance, a woman wearing a scarf around the back of her head is a few feet ahead of them. When the camera cuts to a wider shot, the woman with the head scarf is much further ahead, now walking up the stairs. (01:47:30)
Other mistake: The man who shows Kurt around the Dusseldorf Art Academy (and later becomes his friend) introduces himself as Harry Preusser, but during the end credits, his name is listed as Gunther Presseur. (01:54:25 - 03:04:00)
Continuity mistake: When Preusser is showing Kurt around the academy, they stop just before walking past a woman firing arrows. A man in a black jumper and brown pants is in the far background. When they resume walking, the man in the black jumper and brown pants has jumped forward a few meters. (01:54:40)
Continuity mistake: During the academy tour, Kurt and Preusser walk into one of the art rooms. When the camera cuts to inside the room, a man in a black suit has suddenly appeared walking out of the doorway who wasn't there in the previous shot. (01:55:52)
Continuity mistake: When talking about Adrian, Presseur says "A little snot. But he can talk, that's for sure" to Kurt. When he says this, a man in a striped shirt is shown standing in the hallway behind them who was not visible in the previous shot. (01:56:08)
Continuity mistake: When Preusser is telling Kurt about Adrian Schimmel, a man and woman can be seen entering the room behind them. It then cuts to a closer shot of Kurt and Preusser and the man and woman have disappeared. (01:56:08)
