Toy Story

Continuity mistake: When Buzz drops into the van through the sunroof (at the gas station) he has a dead fly stuck to his helmet shield. Woody attempts to pull it off and clean the glass, but doesn't finish the job as there is still some goo on the glass where the fly was. On the following shot the glass is completely clean. (00:30:14)

Continuity mistake: When Woody and Buzz are at the gas station and the big truck pulls in, Woody falls limp to the ground. The truck pulls over him, and stops with its tires an inch from his head. In fact, the brim of Woody's hat sticks up into the space between the two tires. In the next shot when Woody scrambles out from beneath the tires, his head is directly under the tire to our right. (00:31:40)

Continuity mistake: When Woody and Buzz run for the Pizza Planet doors under cover of Pizza Planet cups and burger dishes, Buzz says, "Hurry Sheriff, the airlock is closing!" Just after he says that, the camera changes view to inside Pizza Planet, and the distance that they've run changes instantly. (00:33:22)

Continuity mistake: In the scene where toys in Sid's room make their first appearance, they crowd around the middle of the room and pull at Janie's body and the Pterodactyls head. The shot cuts to Woody on Buzz looking horrified. When it goes back to the toys, they're dragging a different dolls body away (the same one that is seen sitting for tea with Buzz in Hannah's room in a later scene). (00:40:50)

Deliberate mistake: Sid burns a hole into Woody's forehead in the middle of the film, but by the final scene (as the toys are waiting to hear what Andy has gotten for Christmas), the burn hole is completely gone. [Disney takes the attitude that violence is okay in their movies as long as the signs of it disappear by the end. Still a mistake but that's the reason.] (00:43:35)

Audio problem: When Buzz and Woody enter Pizza Planet, the doors make a sliding sound and a thud when they close. A second later, several kids rush towards the door, but no sounds are heard. (00:45:31)

Continuity mistake: When Buzz is in Sid's sister's room, Woody comes up to it disguised in the Christmas lights. He then leaves them beside the door before he goes in. When they leave the room, the lights are gone. Later the lights return when Woody goes to get them, but there are fewer of them. (00:47:22)

Continuity mistake: The objects on Hannah's play table change position between two consecutive shots. Most notably Buzz's arm holding the teapot, as well as Buzz's legs. (00:49:20)

Continuity mistake: When Sid is setting the alarm clock, he sets it for about 8:25, when the alarm goes off the next morning, it's actually at 8:00. (00:55:42)

Toy Story mistake picture

Other mistake: It's been mentioned that Sid sets his clock for 8:25 and it goes off at 7:00. Here's some more errors for Sid's crazy clock physics. When Woody is saying "Psst" to Buzz from inside the blue plastic basket, the clock on the wall says 6:25, yet the alarm clock next to Buzz says 6:55. It goes off 5 minutes later and after Sid takes Buzz out of the room, the clock on the wall has changed to 3:10. When Woody is talking to Sid's toys a minute later, the clock now reads 10:00. The maximum amount of time that passed between the already wrong 3:10 and the 10:00 is 5 minutes. You can tell because Sid wanted to launch Buzz strapped to the rocket ASAP and Woody wanted to rescue Buzz from his current strapped-to-a-rocket state very fast. (00:56:45)

Continuity mistake: Buzz, while pushing the tool box off of the blue basket Woody is in, stretches to about 3 times the length he normally could from that position. When he first starts pushing against the window sill with his feet, he stretches out fully a few seconds later, about half the length of Sid's desk. He continues to push the box over and says "Almost there..." before he does and we can see he still has his feet on the window sill. Most people will have to watch it for a better understanding. (00:59:37)

Continuity mistake: When Buzz and Woody are in Sid's room, the clock stays still at 3:10. But about two scenes later that shows the clock, it changes. (01:01:20)

Deliberate mistake: When "Legs" lowers the Pez duck named Ducky down through the removed lightbulb hole, to ring the doorbell, the lightbulb housing is bigger than the hole but they bring it up through the hole to remove it. (01:03:55)

Continuity mistake: The match in Woody's gun holster disappears in the wide shot right before he and Buzz remember the rocket and the match, then it reappears in the closeup when he takes it out of the holster to use. (01:07:25)

Continuity mistake: Toward the end of the movie when Woody opens the moving van door and is hanging on it you can see in the background Scud trying to get Buzz from underneath the car, but right after Woody spots the box he needs to look in we are shown a scene of Scud struggling with Buzz who is at this point thrown under the car. (01:08:55)

Continuity mistake: When Rex and Mr. Potato head pop out of the moving box lots of packing foam pops out, yet later when the box spills out in the moving truck there is not any packing foam. (01:09:07)

Continuity mistake: When Buzz and Woody are attempting to enter the truck towards the end, they ride RC and grab a hold of Slinky to help pull them up. RC loses power and Slinky starts to be pulled onto the road. When he touches the floor to stop him falling he actually pushes against the flow of the road. (01:11:50)

Continuity mistake: When Buzz and Woody are riding RC, holding onto Slink in the end, there's a shot where the truck turns to the left on a bend. Slinky gets stretched further, and RC goes off to the right side of the road due to centrifugal force. We can see that RC is going to go under a parked car. The camera switches to the front and we see the car pass from further right. They never end up going under it and tangling Slinky in the wheel. (01:12:00)

Audio problem: After Buzz's flight test, Bo Peep says, "I found my moving buddy." Her voice is a bit different.

Suggested correction: I don't hear anything different. Certainly not enough to be called an audio problem. It's Annie Potts's voice, rough edge and Nashville accent and all.

Continuity mistake: There's an electrical outlet on the wall below the window (aligned with the window shade's loop) in Sid's room near the Megadork poster, but when Sid throws Woody to the floor and raises the shade (before he scorches Woody's forehead with the magnifying glass), that outlet has vanished.

Trivia: The carpet design used in Sid's house is the same design used in the hotel featured in The Shining (1980). (00:48:55 - 00:50:10)

Upvote valid corrections to help move entries into the corrections section.

Suggested correction: The designs are not the same, only superficially similar.

raywest

The design is spot on. The color is just different.

lionhead

So it is identical, except for how it is different?

No one said it was identical. The trivia is the pattern is the same. Color has no bearing on the trivial fact. The fact that they animated the carpet means the design was intentional. Although, it's possible they copied the design from a 70's carpet pattern that "The Shining" also used, rather than copy the design in "The Shining."

Bishop73

The colours are reversed but other than that they are the same.

Question: When Woody and Buzz are at Sid's house, at one point the baby with the spider legs taps something in Morse code to Sid's other toys. Is he really tapping something in Morse code or is it just a random jumble of dots and dashes?

Answer: Baby face taps RR TOYS COME OUT. Telling the other toys to come out from hiding. Pixar stated this in their Toy Story character overview.

But why "RR"?

"RR" is shorthand for "Message Received." Babyface is telling Woody that he understands Woody's problem and then taps out to the other toys to come out.
