Toy Story
Toy Story mistake picture

Continuity mistake: All the walls in Andy's room have white wainscoting with the cloud wallpaper on the upper part of the walls, but in the opening shot of the room we see behind the "saloon" box that the cloud wallpaper covers the wall all the way down to the baseboard. The tall dresser isn't where it should be as well. (00:00:40)

Super Grover

Continuity mistake: In the beginning of the movie, Andy puts Woody on RC and drives RC into a cardboard building. Later, when Woody says the coast is clear and everyone comes alive, RC is seen coming out of the closet but the last place he was left was by that box in the room. (00:02:00 - 00:03:45)

Toy Story mistake picture

Continuity mistake: When Andy has Woody slide down the banister there's a green/white striped rug directly in front of the door, but when the area of the floor in front of the door can be seen from the living room such as when Andy shouts, "Score," the rug is gone, then it reappears when Andy rushes back upstairs to get Molly. (00:02:40)

Super Grover

Factual error: When Andy and Woody start spinning in the recliner, Woody inclines to the center (to his right) instead of inclining to the left according to the centrifugal force physical law. (00:02:56)

Continuity mistake: Near the start, when Andy uses the recliner chair's footrest to catapult Woody to the couch, the footrest remains extended while Andy's with his mother, but a moment later when Andy grabs Woody to head upstairs the recliner footrest has closed on its own. (00:03:10)

Super Grover

Toy Story mistake picture

Continuity mistake: When Andy goes to his room to get Molly, he lowers the side of her crib in order to get her out, picks her up, and walks out of the room. In the next shot of his room, the crib side is back up. (00:03:13)

Continuity mistake: When Molly is playing with Mr. Potato Head, she knocks all of the pieces off his head, except one arm. The next time Mr. Potato Head is seen, he has lips, one eye, one eyebrow and both hands. (00:03:19)

Factual error: When the soldiers are asked to find out what gifts Andy is getting at his birthday party, the set out down stairs with half of a baby monitor. Well, any parent who owns one knows that there are 2 pieces to a baby monitor. One half (the larger half) is the receiving end (that takes in the noises) and a smaller half which is the transmitting part (the half that sends out the noises). The half that the soldiers take downstairs to talk through is the wrong half. They take the half that the noise comes OUT of. So, really, they should NOT be able to speak into this part - in real life, they'd hear what was happening up in Andy's room. (00:09:18)

Toy Story mistake picture

Continuity mistake: At 09:21 on BluRay disc, is the scene where Woody is instructing the army man to go downstairs. You can see in his left hand there is a set of binoculars and in his right hand is a pistol. In the very next shot (at 09:26) you can see the binoculars in his left hand, but the pistol has disappeared from his right hand, enabling him to salute Woody. A few shots later (09:33) we get a good look at the army man. The pistol is still missing. We also get a look at the holster, which is empty. There was no time for the army man to put the pistol in the holster between shots, and it would technically be moulded to his hand anyway. (00:09:20)

Continuity mistake: When the army men parachute down from upstairs, they disappear before the next scene. You see them when they land, but when the other soldiers come down they just aren't there anymore. (00:09:40)

Continuity mistake: When the toy soldiers get stepped on, the mom sweeps them with her foot to the right of the door. So when they are active again and go the left, they should go by the door right away. Instead they are to the right of the potted plant. (00:10:50)

Toy Story mistake picture Video

Continuity mistake: When the army soldiers are yelling into the baby monitor that the kids are heading up to Andy's room, the baby monitor is right in front of Woody on the floor. Yet, when the camera pans out to show all the toys scrambling for their places the monitor is gone, and Hamm is right in front of Woody. Then, when the camera zooms back in to show Woody, the baby monitor has reappeared. (00:12:30)

Toy Story mistake picture

Other mistake: When Rex shakes the table causing the baby monitor to fall, the batteries fall out and we see the open battery compartment with markings for positive (+) and negative (-), and space for two AA batteries. Woody jumps off the bed and places the two batteries inside the compartment, but before he closes the compartment note the position of the battery closest to the top of the monitor. The positive side is actually where the negative side should be so the monitor should not work, but the monitor turns on just in time to hear the soldier's warning. (00:13:15)

Super Grover

Toy Story mistake picture

Deliberate mistake: When Buzz Lightyear demonstrates his "flying" abilities in front of the other toys, his left wing would have clipped the car track entering the loop-de-loop, and the right wing would have hit the track when leaving the loop. (00:18:50)

Dr Wilson

Toy Story mistake picture

Continuity mistake: During the earlier scenes in Andy's room Molly's bottle is beside the lamp on the small wicker dresser near the crib, and it disappears and reappears, such as when Buzz wants to prove he can fly he stands on the bed's footboard and the bottle is gone, but it reappears when he lands on the race track. (00:19:00)

Super Grover

Continuity mistake: When Buzz looks at his foot and sees ANDY written on it, at first it's sloppy and a bit backward with a misshapen A, but when the angle changes it's a lot neater. (00:22:05)

Continuity mistake: When Woody plans to knock Buzz behind a desk, if you look closely at the globe in a box next to the bulletin board, it is slightly off-position in its stand. Later, when the bulletin board begins to fall on the globe, the globe is positioned correctly. (00:24:40 - 00:26:00)

Continuity mistake: When Andy's mom suggests to Andy they go out to eat at Pizza Planet and that Andy can only bring one toy, Woody picks up the magic 8 ball which was next to him and asks if Andy will pick him. If you see in the earlier shots the ball wasn't there. (00:25:50)

Continuity mistake: When RC hits the notice board in Andy's room, quite a lot of thumb tacks fall off it and land beside Buzz, yet there seems to be the same amount of tacks on the board after the incident as there were before. (00:26:55)

Padzter

Continuity mistake: When RC bumps into the corkboard, the pins fall off and stick into the desk. When the globe starts rolling towards Buzz, the pins are gone. (00:27:00)

Mr. Potato Head: Oh, really? I'm from Playskool.
Rex: And I'm from Mattel. Well, I'm not really from Mattel, I'm actually from a smaller company that was purchased by Mattel in a leveraged buyout.

Trivia: The carpet design used in Sid's house is the same design used in the hotel featured in The Shining (1980). (00:48:55 - 00:50:10)

Upvote valid corrections to help move entries into the corrections section.

Suggested correction: The designs are not the same, only superficially similar.

raywest

The design is spot on. The color is just different.

lionhead

So it is identical, except for how it is different?

No one said it was identical. The trivia is the pattern is the same. Color has no bearing on the trivial fact. The fact that they animated the carpet means the design was intentional. Although, it's possible they copied the design from a 70's carpet pattern that "The Shining" also used, rather than copy the design in "The Shining."

Bishop73

The colours are reversed but other than that they are the same.

Question: I was wondering. Does Sid destroy toys because his father beats/abuses Sid, so Sid lets out his anger on toys? This would explain all the locks on Sid's door, to hide from his father and to hide what he does to toys. When Scud is looking for Woody, he notices Sid's father sleeping, and Scud walks away, which could mean that Scud doesn't want to wake up Sid's father knowing he is a cruel and violent man.

Answer: This is a Disney/Pixar production, at no point are they intimating that kind of a relationship between son and father. If anything, the father simply doesn't care what his son gets up to so long as he isn't disturbed by it. Any other inferences you get from the movie are for you to contend with, but the family nature of the movie would suggest beating/abuse is not the answer.
