Continuity mistake: At the western bar Louise is drinking a margarita. As the shot goes back and forth between Thelma & Louise, the contents of the drink magically decrease and increase again. The level of Thelma's coke rises as well, when Harlan leaves them. (00:14:00)
Continuity mistake: When Louise phones Jimmy for the first time from the motel, we see the pool outside and can see that all the sunbeds are in shadow. In the next shot, of Thelma by the pool, most of the beds are now in the sun. (00:31:00)
Visible crew/equipment: Louise's sunglasses reflect equipment in several scenes, for example the camera when they drive to Oklahoma, or stage lighting when they wait at the train crossing. (00:33:25 - 00:41:55)
Continuity mistake: When J.D. asks Thelma for a ride his sunglasses move back and forth between his hand and the neck of his t-shirt. (00:39:30)
Visible crew/equipment: After Thelma went off the road to avoid the police convoy and waits at a stop sign there is a reflection of the boom mike moving around on the hood. (00:47:25)
Continuity mistake: When Jimmy shows up at the Vagabond hotel it turns dark between shots. (00:51:15)
Continuity mistake: J.D.'s hair turns dry between shots when he and Thelma fool around on the bed. In the following love scene his hairstyle changes several times. (00:56:00)
Continuity mistake: When Darryl and the police officers sit on the terrace the rain in the background keeps coming and going. (01:09:15)
Visible crew/equipment: When Thelma and Louise follow the tank truck with the horny driver a crew car is reflected in the tank instead of Louise's convertible. (01:14:00)
Continuity mistake: When Thelma and Louise lock up the policeman in the trunk they shoot two air holes in the lid. Later the policeman sticks his finger through a hole to point out to the bicyclist where Louise had thrown the keys (surprisingly he could tell from the rather feeble sound what that sound was and where the keys had landed), and the rim of the hole shows that the bullet was shot from inside. (01:50:20)
Continuity mistake: When the girls have the trucker follow them, they are shown sitting on top of the car. However, when the driver is walking up to them, they are shown getting on top of the car again. (01:50:22 - 01:50:51)
Continuity mistake: When Thelma and Louise are chased by the police across the dusty plains there's a aerial shot from behind where the ground is covered with tracks. When the camera changes to a closer angle from the front, the tracks are gone. (01:53:40)
Continuity mistake: After T&L shoot the tanker, we see an aerial shot of the police car in the shadow of the rock next to it. When the cyclist gets to the car, though, it is in bright sunshine again. (01:54:00)
Deliberate mistake: In the scene where T& L are being pulled over for speeding, when they park, you see no protective rails on the side of the street they are on, but after they put the officer in the trunk and return to their car, on the passenger side, the rails are very visible.
Factual error: After JD steals Louise's money, Thelma decides to rectify the fact that they're broke by robbing a convenience store in Oklahoma. She holds the clerk at gunpoint, asks for all the cash, and then requests he hand over a bottle of booze. The problem is, due to the liquor laws in Oklahoma, one can only buy 3.2 beer and wine coolers at grocery stores and convenience stores, not "hard" alcohol.
Factual error: As the Highway Patrol officer approaches T&L we see that there is a carrier for 12 rounds of ammo (obviously for a revolver most likely a .38 Spl or .357 magnum) on his gun belt. When he surrenders his weapon we find it is a semi-automatic pistol. The cartridges on his belt would not be compatible with a semi-automatic pistol which he was carrying.
Revealing mistake: Thelma and Louise in one scene are driving at a very high speed with Brad Pitt in the backseat wearing a cowboy hat that never flies off, much less even moves with the wind.
Visible crew/equipment: In the scene where Thelma & Louise pass the tanker for the last time, before they blow it up, there appears to be an image of a man visible twice near the bottom of the tanker, just before the tanker cab is shown.
Audio problem: When Thelma approaches the Highway Patrolman's window you can hear her cocking the revolver she then points at his head, but the revolver remains visibly uncocked.
Answer: It's the 1941 film "Penny Serenade".
