Continuity mistake: When Carol asks "Arm wrestle for the tesseract?" Minn-erva in the background is holding her gun at a different angle than the previous shot. Following that, Bron-Char (the big white bearded Kree) assumes battle stance at least 3 times in different shots, at first reacting to Carol flipping on her feet (but looking composed in the next shot), then shown with his fist stretched out, then shown in the process of stretching said fist out. Continuity mistake: When Keller has the upper hand on Fury in the fight, he slams him on the ground. When Vers blasts Keller backwards, Fury's head is closer to the 32 on the floor than it was when he was lying down stunned. (00:52:40)

Factual error: Vers is on the 'phone' with her Kree crew from a public phone on the outside of a club with plenty of posters appropriate for the time period (Foo Fighters @The Fillmore, REM's tour for Monster, etc) but is also plastered with posters for "Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness", a Smashing Pumpkins album which came out at the end of October of 1995, months later than when the movie supposedly takes place (June). Suggested correction: The poster is a promo. Previous to the album's release.

The album was still being recorded as of August of that year.

Continuity mistake: When Vers throws the old lady against the roof of the train, the guy with a sleeveless shirt next to the guy making funny faces keeps switching position between shots, between cowering in fear behind his newspaper and having the newspaper hand down against the armrest. (00:31:25)

Continuity mistake: In the flashback of her military training, when she lies flat on her back after falling from the rope, the shadow on Brie Larson's chest changes between shots. (00:15:40)

Sammo

Continuity mistake: During the flashback about the kart race, the protagonist gets passed by another vehicle, number 5. He gives her the sensible advice to slow down, which makes her accelerate. The kart is shown moving to the left and rear ending number 5, which is curious because she had already been passed by another kart in the meantime (driven by a guy with a green striped shirt) who is nowhere to be seen. He has number 3 and was dead last earlier. (00:14:55)

Continuity mistake: Vers early in the morning the first day shows up at Yon-Rogg's door. Jude Law is rubbing his shoulder in the front view, while he has his fingers stretched behind his ear in the reverse shot. (00:02:15)

Sammo

Continuity mistake: When Maria says "It's just basic physics" and takes a sip, her grip on the glass is different than in the following shot. (01:15:05)

Continuity mistake: When the doctor asks Fury "How's your eye?" he turns towards him twice in two separate shots. (00:36:20)

Revealing mistake: After the Kree arrive on the ship, in a side shot one of them opens the lunchbox holding the tesseract. We see the blue light emanating from inside, but that only appears once the box is fully open - while it's opening, there's no light inside at all, despite the tesseract always glowing. A later shot shows the glow being visible around the edges of the lid even when the box is completely shut, and when Carol opens it later, the glow appears immediately.

Plot hole: Talos under the guise of Director Keller orders his men to stay where they are as he wants to interrogate the suspect alone. Fury exits the elevator before him and we see Keller realise only when he is already at the inferior level in some boiler room that he has been tricked. Despite the headstart of 5 floors, mysteriously the agents of SHIELD (headed by Keller) are already swarming the archive when Fury calls Vers by name.

Sammo

Other mistake: It's a common narrative device, but through the black box recording, Vers/Carol "remembers" things that extend past the point when she was knocked out unconscious. The black box can't have recorded Yon-Rogg and Minn-erva's conversation after a crash and an explosion of a device that disrupts electronics, or SHIELD would have known everything about the aliens already in 1989.

Sammo

Continuity mistake: Going through the old file about Carol's case at the end of the movie, Fury reaches for her picture, which is turned 90° to fit in the folder (being horizontal) but at the cut the picture is already oriented correctly for him to look at. (01:52:20)

Sammo

Continuity mistake: Dining with the Skrulls at the end of the movie, Carol responds to young Monica's "You don't know" with "He doesn't." Sam Jackson is holding his finger on the glass differently between shots. (01:47:49)

Continuity mistake: During the fight between Fury and Director Keller in the archive, an object (a suitcase or a folder?) suddenly appears mid-fight, either in upright or horizontal position. (00:52:00)

Plot hole: The closest jump point to "C-53" aka Earth is 22 hours, a plot device needed for the Kree to catch up with Vers only for the third act. Yon-Rogg does not tell Ronan anything about the target (Earth), but Ronan still when called shows up with his fleet of battleships in mere minutes.

Suggested correction: We don't hear Yon-Rogg telling Ronan anything about the target but it doesn't mean it hasn't happened. We do see them doing many things (eg eating) but we can assume it takes place). It's reasonable to assume they've had a conversation about where they're going.

Continuity mistake: The Supreme Intelligence has a worried expression when Carol gets close, and drops the energy beam that was not working. However, inexplicably she's smiling once Carol rips the control device from her neck, before switching back to the kind of "Oh no" face she had before. (01:31:45)

Sammo

Other mistake: One already wonders how fast can SHIELD possibly get to the facility itself once Fury pages them, but when Fury and Vers get into the archive, the clock shows it's 2 PM. After a few minutes browsing, he gets a message on his pager from Keller simply saying the message has been received. He leaves 'for a minute' apparently to go greet them (already?) and comes back; when he walks into the archive the clock shows it's 3 PM. (00:46:15 - 00:51:00)

Other mistake: The fingerprint scanner in the room where Fury and Vers are detained is inconsistent. Fury tries it, and the scanning line moves quite fast before rejecting him with a red light. Vers tries it and there isn't a scanning line at all, it just flashes red. Then when using the fingerprint lifted from his ID, there's a much slower scanning line before it flashes green and unlocks.

Factual error: Both Danvers and Rambeau have their names and call-signs printed under the canopy of their planes, but only actual fighter pilots, not test pilots, receive that honour. Furthermore, not even all fighter pilots are eligible, as there are more pilots at any given time than there are planes for them to fly.

Trivia: In the Blockbuster, Danvers blasts a standee of True Lies. The directors' first choice of standee was actually The Mask (which makes sense, being a green-skinned character who she'd rightly think was a Skrull and attack), but New Line Cinema refused to allow it.
