Continuity mistake: When Noah and Adam are talking and Noah is playing with his fishing pole he is reeling it in. It cuts to a close up as he talks about his mother taking him to Canada and suddenly his left arm is pulled back a bit and he's holding the pole much closer to his body. (00:08:20)
Factual error: When they come upon the nuclear reactor cooling towers there's a wide shot that reveals there are no electrical lines anywhere near the reactor. A reactor's central purpose is to generate electricity - all "real" (non-CGI) reactors are surrounded by electric power lines and transformers. (01:20:23)
Continuity mistake: After Adam catches up to Noah and the other two and makes them stop, he starts walking towards them after they turn to face him. He's walking with his arm extended forward pointing his pistol at Noah. It cuts to a different angle from the side and suddenly he's walking with both arms swinging by his sides. (01:21:50)
Continuity mistake: After Adam Westinghouse catches up to the main characters, he fires up into the air and threatens to shoot them in the back if they don't stop. They turn to face Adam and Lucas is holding his BB gun in his left hand. The camera cuts to a different angle and suddenly Lucas is holding the BB gun with both hands but in a right handed hold. And he is also a little bit closer to Noah. (01:21:45)
Continuity mistake: Noah notices a Humanity Bureau vehicle following behind them while they are driving through the snow. He quickly stops their car and gets out to shoot at the vehicle as it passes by. You can see bullet holes in the glass of the windshield where the driver is as the car passes, but in the next shot as the vehicle starts to tumble over, the bullet holes are gone. (01:07:45)
Continuity mistake: When the Chief of Staff is opening the boxes of New Eden ash, he sets his knife down in the box close to the edge. As he picks up a child's tooth from the box and the camera changes angles, the knife is now closer to the other edge of the box. (00:40:35)
Continuity mistake: When the boy, Lucas, asks Noah what kind of gun he has, Noah is holding a piece of paper in each hand. In the shot from over his shoulder, his right hand is elevated holding the paper a couple inches up from the table. When it cuts to a view of Noah from the front, his right hand is lowered almost touching the table. (00:13:35)
Audio problem: After Adam and Noah finish talking about Chester Hills, the movie shows a few shots of the desolate land and bad conditions. One shot is a close up of a decaying dead cow, and in this shot you hear the loud sounds of flies and bugs swarming it as you'd expect on a dead animal. However it is just the added sound effect as there is not one single fly or insect visible. (00:09:35)
Continuity mistake: As Chester Hills shoots the motel clerk and calls him a little shit, you see a stack of books by the door. When Noah pops up from behind the couch and shoots Chester, the top couple of books on the stack turn almost a full 90 degree angle. (00:06:50)
Revealing mistake: At the beginning as Noah's vehicle is reaching the edge of New America, there is a shot of a drone swooping down over a hill to follow him. As the drone comes onto screen, there is dust and debris animated to come up at the camera as it blows around its environment. However this small bit of superimposed bad special effects is the only thing it seems to affect. It swoops down right next to some tall dead grass and other plants, on a dusty hill. But not one item of the real environment is blown or even moves in the slightest from this drone passing by it from inches away. (00:01:30)
Continuity mistake: When Noah enters the first house, a man wearing a black boggan on his head turns to look at him. Close to him is an old woman sitting on a couch watching TV. In the this shot, her shadow on the wall is slightly elongated and thin. But it cuts to a different angle and you can tell they moved the lighting around for the shot as then her shadow is roughly the same shape and size as her and much dark and thicker. (00:03:20)
