Continuity mistake: Oliver returns home to find Stan holding a hose and putting out of the smoldering remains of a fire that destroyed much of the house. In the medium-range shot that follows, Stan's right arm is at his side and the hose is on the floor.
Continuity mistake: When Oliver is covered in soot from the stove chimney, the amount of soot on his face changes between shots.
Visible crew/equipment: When the gardener is hit on the back of the head by a plant that Oliver threw out of the window, a hand is throwing the plant directly at him.
Continuity mistake: When Oliver is standing by the oven holding his coat and trousers, he opens the oven door, but when we see him leaning over to get a chair, the oven door is closed.
Continuity mistake: A gas stove explodes, sending Ollie flying from the kitchen into the dining room, where he falls on a table, breaking it. Ollie's hat is in perfect condition when he lands on the floor. When he gets up, the top of his hat is torn, covered in soot and sticking straight up.
Revealing mistake: Ollie throws a flower pot at Stan. Stan ducks and the pot continues through the house, breaking a window and hitting a gardener outside. On the DVD of the film, the long wire the flower pot is attached to is visible.
Continuity mistake: When Oliver pulls down the chimney pipe from the stove, he is hit by a cloud of soot. At this point, you can see that the top of Oliver's hat is clean, but when Stan appears in the next shot, his hat is now covered in soot.
