Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales

Stupidity: During the execution scene when Carina is on the gallows with a noose around her neck, the plot depends on Henry being able to get to her before she is dropped through the trap door. However, there is so much slack in the hanging rope that during the chaotic fighting, when Carina is left unattended, she could easily have stepped off the small trap door and onto the solid flooring that is inches away. Instead, she continues standing there, waiting to be rescued.

Stupidity: A young Jack Sparrow outwits Salazar by tricking him into the Devil's Triangle. Jack uses a bootleg turn to dodge the same fate. However, the film shows Jack's ship within the striking range of Salazar's ship. Salazar could have used a cannonade to both destroy Jack and turn his ship to the starboard side, avoiding the Devil's Triangle. In fact, despite being a naval genius, Salazar did little to escape doom. (01:06:12)

Continuity mistake: After Carina tells Jack and the others that she's an astronomer which has nothing to do with donkeys, when Jack threatens to kill Henry in the shot facing him he's holding his left hand up pointing at Henry, but in the next shot facing Henry it's Jack's right hand up pointing at Henry.

Trivia: The ship we see Jack on in Salazar's flashback is called the Wicked Wench. This is a bit of an in-joke for PotC buffs, because that was the original name of the Black Pearl before being sunk by Cutler Beckett and raised again by Davy Jones. It's fully explained in a deleted scene of At World's End.

Question: Why was Henry excited when he saw Carina's ankles?

Answer: It would have been considered "risque" to see a woman's ankles. Well-bred, modest ladies always wore clothing that covered most of their bodies.
