While it benefits from some slick direction courtesy the usually reliable F. Javier Gutierrez, "Rings" ultimately falls flat thanks to uneven performances, an oddly confusing narrative and bizarre editing choices. It's a frustrating film, because there's potential... but it's all squandered and lost thanks to obvious studio-enforced re-shoots and re-edits, which leave the film feeling disjointed and without focus.

Suggested correction: There is nothing that indicates the airplane is a 747.
Trivia: Retired make-up effects maestro Rick Baker (who did the Samara effects in the first two films before his retirement in 2015), has a small cameo as a man at the flea market in the film. While his lines were cut, he is still visible in the background of the scene. Members of his former makeup team took up the mantle and supplied the Samara effects in this sequel.
