Robin Hood

Question: Why doesn't Prince John like having his hand shaken?

Answer: Robin Hood, while disguised as a stork, wouldn't stop shaking Prince John's hand and it was starting to annoy him. Prince John was also robbed by Robin Hood earlier in the movie so he wanted to make sure that the jewels in his rings weren't stolen again.

Answer: Being the prince, he would consider everyone else beneath him and unworthy of touching him.

Question: Why did little John like the fact that the hubcaps were made of gold? I thought he wasn't greedy like Prince John.

Answer: Just like Robin Hood, he would have likely given them to the poor who could have sold the hubcaps themselves.

Answer: He's not. Just like Robin Hood, he's robbing the rich to give to the poor. Since Prince John is so wealthy, Little John takes whatever he can get from the coach to help the oppressed people.

But what would he have done with the golden hubcaps? Sell them to make more money to feed the poor?

Just like Robin Hood, he would have given them to the poor who could have sold the hubcaps themselves.

Answer: Either he figured it out on his own or Sir Hiss told him.

How would Sir Hiss know that it was Robin Hood who robbed the royal?

Question: Robin Hood and Little John steal Prince John's bags of gold by a rope being pulled by Alan-a-Dale. I have a problem with that because there were a lot a bags of gold tied to the rope. Wouldn't that add a lot of pounds to the rope's weight, making it difficult to pull?

Answer: There's no way to accurately answer this because it's an animated film. The norms of real life do not apply here. The characters are cartoons, and they can do things that real humans cannot, such as easily lifting heavy loads.

Answer: I think the problem in trying to answer this question is "how much do the bags weigh?" How many coins are in there and how much do the coins weigh? Say a coin weighed 5 grams. 1,000 coins would weigh a little over 11 pounds. We see a character carrying 3 bags and a lot of other characters able to carry one bag, even while using a crutch. So I don't think the bags weighed more than 15 pounds and you never really see more than 20 bags on the rope and there's several characters pulling on the rope. To Raywest's point, too many silly things happen where the weight of the gold on the rope shouldn't be an issue, even if the bags weighed 50-100 pounds. Prince John's foot gets caught and they pull him and his bed to the edge. The Rhino's crash Prince John through the gate and brick wall and he's just fine. Robin Hood shoots an arrow that picks 3 characters up and pins them to a post.

Question: At the arrow shooting contest, how did Prince John know it was Robin Hood in disguise?

Answer: Because he was firing perfect shots and only Robin Hood is that good.

Question: Sir Hiss is secretly tasked with looking for Robin Hood, and hides in a balloon. Wouldn't he sufficate if the balloon was inflated?

Answer: Yes. He also wouldn't float. But it's a cartoon about a talking fox, so don't worry too much about realism.

Question: When Robin Hood goes to Skippy's house as a blind beggar, does he say, "Did I hear someone say a birthday today?" or "Did I hear someone sing a birthday ditty?"

Answer: He said "Did me old ears hear someone singin' a birthday ditty?"

Bishop73

I thought it was "today", not "ditty."

Question: How did Trigger accidentally fire his crossbow simply by patting it?

Answer: It's called a hair trigger, when a weapon of any kind can go off with the wrong kind of knock, very sensitive to touch.

Answer: There are two possibilities. Roman crossbows from medieval times, used throughout Europe, used a rolling nut trigger system. This is different than a modern day crossbow with a pistol trigger. The trigger, which looks like a lever, sits in a notch on the nut. Through use, this notch could have been worn down so that the crossbow misfired when he hit it on the side; because the nut was allowed to spin, releasing the bowstring. The other possibility is when he hits the side of the crossbow, it almost looks like the trigger hits his belly, and since there's no trigger guard, it fires.

Question: When Robin Hood jumps into the water near the end of the movie, how did he survive the guards shooting arrows at him? Going underwater doesn't protect you from getting hit by arrows. Arrows can go deeper underwater than bullets can since they have more mass, even though they don't go as fast.

Answer: An arrow may have more mass, but it is also far less dense. Both the shaft and the fletchings will float. As well, these are not full powered English longbows, but shortbows, designed to be used at close range and without the same penetrating power. You can see many videos on Youtube about how arrows will not go deep.

Continuity mistake: During the archery constest, in one scene Prince John has a ring on his right paw with no jewel, then all of a sudden the jewel appears. a few scenes later he has three rings on that paw, and later he has no rings at all.

Marian: Oh, Clucky, surely he must know how much I really love him.
Clucky: But of course, my dear. Believe me, someday soon, your Uncle King Richard will have an outlaw for an in-law.

Trivia: When Robin Hood and all of the villagers are having the party and singing and dancing, look closely at the dance, it's from Snow White. Some of the villagers are the dwarfs and Maid Marion is Snow White. Also, when Little John is dancing it's from The Jungle Book.
