Continuity mistake: When the Baron is dead and Mr. Kringelein enters in the room, he kneels by him and says a few lines about him looking peaceful. His left arm is on the chair in a position different from the shot before and after, where the hand is at the end of the armrest.

Visible crew/equipment: After the death of the Baron, just before the cut to General Director Preysing asking "Where is Miss Flaemm?" the boom mike casts a clear shadow on Lionel Barrymore's chest.

Trivia: "Grand Hotel" is the only film to have won the Academy Award for Best Picture without being nominated in any other category.
